Black Friday At The Disney Store

The Disney Store opened up at midnight but last week someone told mom that while it was advertised at midnight the store was really going to open at 10:00PM. After our first stop at Toys R Us we decided to hit the Disney Store around 11:00PM.

The mall was virtually empty until we arrived at the Disney Store. The store was clearly closed with the bars up but there were a handful of workers inside. In front of the store there were two security guards and a handful of people arguing about whether they could form a line in the mall so they could enter the Disney store at midnight. The security guards contended that the mall was closed and it was a fire hazard to have the people in there. While this was going on I decided to see if we could get into the Disney Store early......

I called to the Disney Store employees and when one came forward the following conversation ensued:

Kim: My mom was told that the store would open at 10:00PM.
Employee: No, it opens at midnight
Kim: Well, she was told 10:00PM
***everyone is now being escorted out of the mall by security***
Employee: I don't know who said that but it's midnight
Kim: Well, my mom is a Disney employee so I was thinking maybe she could come in at 10:00PM
Employee: I have never heard that.
Kim: That would explain why she was told 10:00PM. You should probably let us in
Employee: Let me check with someone else
Kim and Mom: That would be great, thanks.
***Two minutes later employee returns***
Employee: Do you have your Disney card?
Mom: Yes, here it is
Employee: We didn't know this was allowed but since you said you were told 10:00 you can come in.
Kim, Mom and James: Thank you very much!

So Mom, James and I shopped by ourselves an hour before the store opened. When we were done there was no line, no pushing, no shoving. We just leisurely shopped, got great deals and checked out easily. As we were walking out of the mall at ten to midnight people were just being allowed back in, they saw our many bags and kept asking us if the store was already open. "Nope, it's not"......

BTW: Sydney definitely will be reaping the benefits of this! (Note to self: Maybe I'll try this next year at Target)
