Rock Springs Loop

Last year I posted about our ride up the Jackson Hole tram to "The Top of the World" (Not Really). Ever since that trip I wanted to hike down from the top and so I scheduled a trip with Becca and James to do that. On the way up the tram we discovered that the hike down was on a service road and not a real hike so we decided to do the Rock Springs loop trail instead.

Rock Springs Loop is a moderately difficult hike with a climb down into the Canyon of about 2 miles with equal distance back up. (Going back up was hard) We had a great time! Next time we need the other 3 with us :) (PS: This post is back dated to the day of the hike)

Poor Kim1Champ

This has been the longest I have gone without blogging since the blog began in 2006. I blame this on the poor  cell coverage in the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Forgive all the posts during the catch-up period.

Poor Brooke

We all watched as Ravey was hooked up to the tow truck. I explained that Ravey needed to visit the doctor and everything seemed fine until that terrible moment that Ravey was towed away.

We were following in moms car but Brooke was devastated, sobbing that Ravey was being taken away. We kept telling her that it would be ok and we would get back in once he visited the doctor but she remained upset and sobbed off and on the whole way to the garage.

Happy Fathers Day!

I ordered fresh blue crabs in from Maryland for Fathers Day and they were a big hit. This was the first time since David moved out here that we had crabs delivered but I am sure it won't be the last. Happy Fathers Day to two great dads!

What Happened to Kevin?

I think it is rather funny that I can't get this picture to right size. It will only go horizontal!

The question though isn't how to insert a picture with the correct rotation it's what happened to Kevin on Saturday? I told him to not even try to tell me this was accident but he did anyways claiming it was a baseball. (which by the way was my first serious guess) I would much rather choose to believe that he ticked off the wrong person.

This picture is so funny, he even tops it off with that dumb teams ball cap.

The Perfect Dinner (Alternative Title: Back In Vegas)

The Worst Breakfast

Yesterday, I was telling Diane that the last time I went through Vegas I discovered that the Vegas airport Starbucks serves Chocolate Chip Scones and I love them.
I am not a huge chocolate fan, I get rarely order a scone but I love these! A few weeks after I had my first one they were discontinued in LA and I could never find them again-until my last trip through the Vegas airport.
Last night when I realized I needed to go to Reno today I thought well at least I can get my favorite Starbucks breakfast. Today before boarding my connection I went and ordered and I thought I am going to have a blog entitled the best breakfast with a beautiful pixture of my Chai and Chocolate Chip Scone on the tray table.
I was annoyed that my picture would be ruined when I got the dreaded dome lid. I took a picture and sent it to Mom, Becca and Laura with a note "Could this day be worse" It was only after I boarded the plane and went to take a picture of my dome lid that I discovered the Barista put the wrong *blankety blake* scone in my bag. I am so pissed.

My Toddler Drinks Pool Water

Is it harmful? Here are my favorite words of wisdom from the web:

  • I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's not perfectly clean, but it's not completely toxic either.
  • I think it pretty much depends upon the temperature of the water. If the water temperature of the water he/she is drinking is noticably warmer, say in an area roughly 3 to four feet in diameter, I would suggest the water should be viewed as not very safe. The way sales of bottled water are going, where people are buying water because their tap water might have a one part per milligillionth of latent bacteria, I'm thinking pool water, while not being deadly could cause a tummy ache or a lot of people are wasting money on filters and bottles.

The Gossip Test (Thanks, Jeff!)

In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem. One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said, “Do you know what I just heard about your friend?”

“Hold on a minute,” Socrates replied. “Before telling me anything I’d like you to pass a little test. It’s called the Triple Filter Test.”

“Triple filter?”

“That’s right,” Socrates continued. “Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you’re going to say. That’s why I call it the triple filter test. The first filter is Truth
Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?”

“No,” the man said, “Actually I just heard about it and ...”

“All right,” said Socrates. “So you don’t really know if it’s true or not. Now let’s try the second filter, the filter of Goodness. Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?”

“No, on the contrary…”

“So,” Socrates continued, “you want to tell me something bad about him, but you’re not certain it’s true. You may still pass the test though, because there’s one filter left: the filter of Usefulness. Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?”

“No, not really …”

“Well,” concluded Socrates, “if what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?”
