Happy 40th Mom and Dad!!!!

You did good!!!!!!!!!! I am so fortunate to have been born (along with James, Andrew, Rachel, Matt and Becca) into this family (and for those of you that have been added: Jason, Kevin, Kim and David-you're just lucky!)

The Photographers Eye?

Sydney found something about this scene to be a picture worth taking....if she was a painter, would she do a still life of this?

The Baron of Higuera

Friday night while waiting to be seated I pointed out to David that he should get the Baron of Higuera discribed on the menu as follows: 1 1/2 pounds of seasoned, charbroiled ground beef topped with melted cheddar cheese on a giant hamburger bun. Finish the whole meal including fries and receive a limited edition "F McLintocks Baron T-shirt.

He wasnt going to do it but then one by one all of the guys in our party decided to do it. A little while later there were 5 more Baron of Higuera's photos on the Hall of Fame board. People cheered, the waitress was excited. Good Times! P.S. note the last picture that shows the regular burger next to the Baron. Wow!

I Went To Bug's Land Today

I rarely go into California Adventure, when I do I venture to Soaring, Toy Story Mania and perhaps King Triton's Carousel. Today, I spent quite a bit of time there and when Sydney and I walked into the Bug's Life area (where the 3D movie is) I asked the Disney employee: "Hey, whats down there" and she said "A bunch of different attractions". "Really?" I thought? So Sydney and I ventured down there and went on the 4 rides in that area-she loved the ladybug ride. We also went on two other rides in DCA that I had never been on, the Jumping Jellyfish and the Golden Zepher.

I had a great day hanging out with Sydney (she was on her best behavior), doing some rides with the birthday girls, and lunching with Mom/Dad and the Krueger cousins. And nobody was at Disneyland today-perfect.

Here's To 39 More Years Of Rule Breaking

The Birthday Tree

I read in a magazine about a mom who had started doing a "birthday tree" in order to bring the anticipation of Christmas to her kids birthday's. I loved that idea and so I decided to do it in our house, a visit to Michael's later and we have a birthday tree.

The tree was a Christmas tree (At 90% off which = 45 cents) spray painted pink. Next I decided to do ornaments made out of ribbon and Sydney wanted a flower on top.

Brooke is first to have the "Birthday Tree" and it will be on display until Brooke's birthday, then it will go on hiatus until March 7th when it will go back up for Sydney's birthday. Sydney is so excited, "Look at Brooke's birthday tree!" was repeated all night.

Baby Brooke: An 11 Month Update

I can't believe my baby girl is going to be a year old next month. :(

She is the cutest little thing (well not so little), as much as I love to see her grow I so miss having a little baby in the house. (except for the sleep).

She is so happy, she has such a great personality and loving anything outside, anything with music and anything that involves her mommy. Having said that she has Daddy still absolutely smitten with her. She likes to grab really hard and swat at your face (something Sydney did not do) and has at times been reffered to as "Brooke the hurter"-cuz darn it hurts. I think six solo steps is her max at this point but she walks around the house holding my hand with no problem. I would like to see her eating more food, she's not great in this department (ugh another one) but she loves that expensive formula. Hopefully one more and we'll be done with it. We are planning a Minnie Mouse theme for the 1st birthday. (Already, planning, yeah, I know-shocking)

Calories In LA County

January 1st LA County began a requirement for all restaurants to display the number of calories for each item on the menu. Today I had lunch at Mimi's and discovered that the highest entree on the menu is the West Coast Reuben at 2,022 calories (This is just for the sandwich! Does not count the accompanying fries or soup) How in the heck could this sandwich be 2022 calories? and what does this mean for other Reuben's?

A Little Disappointed

I was hoping to see Becca on Google this morning.....unfortunately it was JFK

Michelle Obama Linked To Pedestration Deaths

RO! Michelle Obama's "Get Moving" program linked to pedestrian deaths

This absolutely sounds like something we would see for Sarah Palin but not Michelle Obama. I am going to add a new phrase to Urban Dictionary:

Sarah Palined: When you are ridiculously blamed for something that has absolutely nothing to do with you.

Example: Did you see Michelle Obama was Sarah Palined over the rise in pedestrain deaths?

Happy Birthday, Becca!

Can't wait to see you later today!!!!! Hope your day is fantastic!

A Visit To Cool Haus

I have been wanting to try the Cool Haus Ice Cream truck for awhile so when I saw that it was in Pasadena last night I decided to go check it out. Pretty awesome sandwiches and mom and I even tried the Brown Butter with Candied Bacon Ice Cream....and it was great! Eat Cool Haus

Brooke Loved Thai Chicken Soup

She had noodles behind her ear, in her nose, in her diaper, on over her face and lets not talk about the floor. Surprisingly, Sydney actually ate it too. The recipe came from the best food magazine ever (Food Network Magazine)-thank you Becca. You can find it here.

My Trip To El Paso

Last month I spent about 36 hours in El Paso. While I was there I went to a cemetery (more on this in a future blog), got a private tour of the mission trail, played Ms Pacman, visited the Champ, bought Tony Lama boots , saw some alligators, learned about the Border Patrol, went on a tram, hung out at Hope and Anchor, had a steak at Cattleman's and visited El Paso's "Most Beautiful Mexican Restaurant". Great Trip!

A Visit To Solstice Canyon

I have been wanting to start hiking for several weeks and today we finally did our first hike since we were in Zion (July). We decided to trek out to Malibu and walk the Solistice Canyon trail, it was a perfect day for it and we all had a good time, I was especially pleased that mom decided to join us. I'm sure we will do it again and have the Kruegers join us. The sippy cup in the first picture is still in the canyon and poor Brooke got cut out of the group pic.
