James: (Looking at my portable GPS) I should get one of these for my car. Then whenever I buy a new car I can use it and won't have to get a built in one

10 Miles From Birmingham

10 miles from Birmingham I got pulled over for speeding on the I-20. Here was the conversation:

Officer: Can I have your license and registration
Kim: Yes, here it is
Officer: I pulled you over because you were going 78 mph in a 60 mph zone
Kim: Yes, I just saw that but I thought the speed limit was 70
Officer: OK but you were still going 78
Kim: I was going too fast

And no, I didn't get off with a warning.

Poor Carolyn

Today at the Kennasaw Battlefield museum 5 year old Carolyn came up to me. She sounded a little bit upset and in a sad voice she whispered the following to me:

Miss Kim, I am going to stay with you because I NEVER get to learn anything with my family. My brothers just play, my dad doesn't care and my mom just reads the stuff to herself.

I am currently on 1 of 4 Southwest planes that have Wi-Fi enabled. Totally Cool! This is the pilot phase and it is currently a free service. My critic is as follows:

System: It's a wireless based satellite network

Ease of Use: Much easier to enable than the Wi-Fi at work-thats for sure. I was up and running in 30 seconds.

The Sign On Screen: You only need to provide your first and last name. If you so desire you can also enter your Rapids Rewards number

Bandwidth: It's not bad. I am connecting pretty fast right now. They do prevent VOIP and video downloads.

How Many Of Me?

Several months ago my brother-in-law, Jason, shared with me the website How Many Of Me?

It is so cool, you can look up and see approximately how many of you there are in the United States.

Kimberly is the 59th most common first name (Who Knew?) 99.9% of them are female. The 10th most common last name is Thomas. Smith is the most common last name. David is the 7th most common first name. Sydney is the 1219th most common first name and there are 22,956 people with the first name of Sydney (22K, of course).

Now, it's not perfect, it is all done on averages. I tested my old friend Pietro Avolio. It says there are 1 or fewer people in the US with that name but the fact is I know two. Pietro and his father, Pietro.

For the record there are 2,399 people named "Kimberly Thomas" in the US but there are only 980 people named "Kim Thomas".

More Scrapbooking....

Yep, for those of you who didn't think I would like scrapbooking (including myself) you are wrong! I had a great time doing it today and I am looking forward to doing it again.

I will admit though, it is very easy because mom has done 98% of the hard stuff for me. I am intimidated about doing the backgrounds etc. Currently, I just have to fill in the pictures.

'Kiss Me" Mascara Is Great For Camping

The following conversation happened yesterday between the sales girl at the Beauty Salon and Jane:

Jane picks up the Kiss Me mascara and goes to pay:
Sales Girl: Here's a makeup removal product
Jane Says: I don't need any
Sales Girl: You don't?
Jane Says: With the Kiss Me Mascara you don't need anything, it's the best product!
Sales Girl: I can't afford it
Jane Says: You know, with the kiss me mascara you can put it on and go camping for 3 days and it will stay on the whole time
Sales Girl: Hmm, well I am going camping next weekend. Maybe I will get some.

How Jack Bauer Can Get The AIG Money Back

Today, Pritesh sent me this article and stated that maybe he finally should start watching 24. Of course I would applaud this decision! So then, I read the article. Too funny!

Basically the article states that the best way for dealing with these AIG bonuses is by having Obama call Jack. Jack would then trick the executives into meeting with him to get more money and then coerce them all into giving the money back and working for minimum wage.

Bagged Chicken Strips

So I was not an SPG, an expediter, or a server. I didn't wear flair or participate in liquor sales contests. I have friends (you know who you are) who lived the Friday's legacy.

Is that legacy really so good that we have to make a meat bi-product with the TGIF label? Is this chicken jerky or just a really bad snack?

Praise Baby

Sydney has this DVD called "Praise Baby". The DVD includes slow transitions of nature, children, animals, other people and toys and it is all done to Sunday school type praise music. It's great, I think I love it just as much as she does. (I think David is pretty tired of it).

Abandoned Stroller

Back in January, I wrote about the stray stroller that I saw one morning abandoned on the side of Altadena Drive. I commented that we probably wouldn't find anymore of these abandoned strollers but within 24 hours I received the follow-up photo below from Jeff. This stroller was found abandoned on a San Francisco street.

I would love to add an abandoned stroller from Arizona, Georgia, Texas and Kentucky.......yes, consider it a challenge.

P.S. And just to make sure you Californians aren't left out. Would love to find one in San Bernardino, Riverside, San Diego, Orange, Kern, San Luis Obispo, Tulare, Ventura, Santa Cruz, Alameda, Merced, San Joaquin, Yolo, Sutter, Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Tehama, Shasta, Sisikyou, Mariposa, Yuka, Nevada, Solano, Sonoma, Tuolumne, and the other ones near Sacramento that are too small to read on the map I have. I'll take one from Reno and Vegas too.

The Small Pharmacy On Madison

The other day I was filling an prescription for Sydney (Yes, her first time with the pink stuff) at the pharmacy in her doctors building. This is a very small pharmacy with only two racks of drug store like stuff. One has aspirin, airborne, etc. and the other has Ace bandages, crutches, etc. I noticed the other five more racks in the store. They are as follows:

Junior Crisp Burritos

My favorite fast food item in high school was from Carls Jr and it (or they) was called Junior Crisp Burritos. Carl's stopped selling them in the early 90's and I have missed them ever since! They came in a pack of 3 or 5 and were soooooo very good. I could have lived off em. Last week I noticed that Carl's Jr was advertising "Crisp Burritos" and they looked the same! I was so excited to try them.

The other day I gave Andrew my ATM card and told him to go get them (He agreed as long as I bought him lunch too) . Andrew came back, I took a great big bite of the first one and........ I said to mom and Andrew, "If this was the taste why did I like them so much?" I can't tell you if it is the same taste or not but if it is, it's no longer a food I can't live without.

I #9829; Shamrock Shakes

This was the best treat when I was a kid! Available only at McDonalds and in the great month of March are Shamrock shakes. Growing up you couldn't get a mint shake anywhere but there and only March 1-17th. Of course, nowadays, you can pick up a mint shake at any number of places (and they are usually better) but every March I return to McDonalds and get at least one Shamrock shake. Mmmmmm, I'm lovin it!

I Need to Solidify a Theme Song

Yesterday, Andrea blogged asking everyone what their theme song was. I responded that I didn't have one but if I had to pick one it would probably be "Sweet Child of Mine". I have always loved that song and when asked about a theme song I usually say that. Does it fit me? Should I pick something else? Any Suggestions? "We are the Champions" from Queen is also fitting.....

Copper Pots

Does anybody out there have any copper pots? I am amazed by the fact that people buy these. What makes them so great, except that they are made of copper?

I saw the pot below at Tuesday Morning's the other day, it was literally the size of my shoe and it was onsale-yes onsale, for $149.00. It was so small that I can't imagine what could be cooked in it. Maybe a fried egg, like the ones that go in the Egg McMuffin's at McDonalds would fit in it. The regular price was over $200.00. I don't get it, does anybody?

I had grand plans for Jenn Ann's birthday post. I was luckily enough to join my HCBC friend for lunch tonight (along with Rachel and the Pickle) and I was planning on taking pictures at lunch and sharing them here......well, that didn't happen because the conversation at the table was so stimulating (24, aliens, the Bachelor, mini-vans) that I forgot to take the pictures!!!!!
