Kicking Off Christmas Party

Tonight we had a Christmas kickoff party that included a 92 degree swim, hot chocolate bar, dinner, and smores for dessert. We had about 45 people and it was fun getting to know new friends and reconnecting with older friends. The kids had a blast swimming and playing hide and seek. Good times had by all.

Black Friday At Costco

I went there at 7:30 PM on Black Friday to pick up a few things for our party today.

Conversation Putting Brooke To Bed

Brooke: Mom, there's a really bad decision
Mom: What?
Brooke: it's a really bad decision because we can't find the remote
Mom: what remote
Brooke: to the TV in the other room.
Mom: oh that's a bad decision?
Brooke: yeah we might never see Sheriff Calle again. That's a bad decision.

Fall Day In The Cove

Black Friday (Grey Thursday???)

We ran into Andrew at Grace at the Target in Azusa. It was Grace's first Black Friday adventure and it couldn't have been better! As much as I was completely against the stores opening early it was actually great for us. We usually have Thanksgiving dinner in the afternoon so heading to Target afterwards was much more convienient than midnight or 5AM. Crowds were bad and we took the Target #Salefie in an attempt to win 10K. After Target we hit the mall briefly and then we were home by 10:00.

PS. For those that think we are crazy for participating in Black Friday this is a long tradition for us and it is fun! I totally enjoy this night out shopping with Becca, Mom and James (and now, Andrew and Grace) Thanks for Kim Evans for encouraging the online shopping-we did this too!

Thank You, BFF

So anybody that knows Jane knows that she has a small bladder and Brooke has one just like hers. Being a person that rarely goes to the bathroom the constant bathroom stopping I don't get. A few weeks ago Jane told Brooke that she should never pass up the opportunity to use the bathroom. Saturday I think I was in 7 public restrooms since Brooke said she needed to not pass it. Tonight we were ready to leave Disneyland (like in the car) and Brooke announces she needs to pee. Back down the elevators at the parking structure we enter the bathroom and I notice she has no shoes. I start to somewhat let her have it and she says "Mom you just shouldn't have passed the bathroom". Thanks, Laura. I love you!!!!

A Disneyland Evening

Even though we knew it would be busy we decided to head to Disneyland for the evening. What a great night! Dinner, the parade, a couple of rides, Starbucks, would you rather and a family chat on Main Street while we waiting for the castle lighting and snow. Good family time, lots to be thankful for. PS. I just love Disneyland at Christmas.

Arizona Visitors

The girls were counting down the days until Miranda arrived for her Disneyland visit and they were so bummed that I made them go to bed before her arrival on Thursday.

Friday morning they were so excited to see her! Brooke took to Larry very quickly (of course) and she was very happy that Miranda and Larry watched her when we took Sydney to school.

It was great having Miranda visit and we all enjoyed getting to know Larry. If they got us sick we forgive them ;)  Love you, MJM!

So Larry Is Moving Today.......

I have enough friends not in my zip code, I didn't need to add this one. This guy has been by my side since 2002. Always available for lunch, always ready to stop by, free coffee at any time, one phone call and he was there. One of the most dependable people I have ever known and he has NEVER let me down.

Larry, you are an amazing friend and more. As much as I am going to miss you I am so happy to see you start this next awesome chapter in your life. You deserve it so much!!!! Thanks for having lunch with Brooke and I on your last working day in So Cal!!!

I truly love you and I cherish your friendship more than you will ever know. Stay close to the airport your boss may summons you to California for some emergency coffee soon. ;)

The last picture is a perfect depiction of how this makes me feel :(

Obsessed By Color

Today while at lunch I was obsessed by the fact that the steak sauce at Smitty's was almost identical in color to the salt and pepper shaker. #easilydistractedtoo

Change Management

Because I am Alist Preffered on Southwest I get free Wi-Fi when I travel. On Friday I received the following error message and mentioned to the flight attendant just to see if people were complaining or it was just me. He said he wasn't sure if there was a problem or not. Oh well, I didn't use wi-fi. On Monday it happened again and I became concerned since it was three days later and the problem hasn't been fixed. I messaged Jane to determine if it was just me. She reported the same problem on her latest flight so I decided to mention it to the flight attendant and she told me to send an email. Touché.

By Monday afternoon there was a pop up notification stating that they had upgraded password requirements and you would need to change your password to use the wi-fi. No problem, I was up in minutes but it made me wonder about change management and the lack of communication/notification and the resulting confusion that had been going for at least 3.5 days. Crazy.

My So Cal Guys

So for the last two years these guys have been my So Cal leaders. Today we had an impromptu meeting at Starbucks (you can do that when you are all local) and as it was concluding I insisted on a selfie to
commemorate this final moment.

(it's really too bad I didn't do my hair and I look like a giant)

We Live At The Black Cow

Having soccer in La Canada has resulted in many trips to Black Cow for breakfast/lunch. Yesterday was our last soccer game so I suggested a brunch before the game. I'm not sure what's better, the food or that we walk in and get seated immediately regardless of how many people are waiting. (I know, I know probably not something we should do) The best part is a guarantee to be waited on by your brother.

PS I had a groupon that had to be used today in Montrose so after dinner at Oceanview we walked over to Black Cow for dessert. Yes, they were both still there.

My Day & Instagram

I was going to post this selfie on Instagram earlier which was taken the moment before we went on the Sombrero ride (don't know the actual name) at Knotts Berry Farm. What I didn't realize is this ride is the Tea Cups on steroids. I do not like spinning and while I didn't vomit I felt pretty terrible for the next several hours.

The second picture basically depicts the rest of my day. (Unrelated to the Sombrero)

These two pictures are the reason I am considering leaving Instagram. (Also Mr Shehata who told me I should pick one) If I post the first everyone thinks I am happy go lucky even though I feel like the second. It's kind of false advertising.

Did She Leave Her Costume At Home?

The answer is no but I can't help thinking she looks like she showed up today ad said, "Oh crap! I guess you can just give me a scarf"

Heels At Disneyland

Will Sydney be one of these people when she is older? This is her tonight walking the streets of San Francisco.

#2 And Its Not Even 9:00AM

Two Starbucks. The red cup from downtown SF at 7am and the iced from downtown Redwood City at 8:55am

Blog posted almost entitled: "Oh Dear" or "hot and cold" or "too much too soon" or "not good for the diet" or "blog it don't Instagram it"

The Go-Live Red Pants (take 2)

David mocks the red pants and told me they wouldn't be allowed at his go live. There was even the following picture on the white board in the Infrastructure area.

Still I couldn't help but wear the red pants. Ya'll see them again on May 1.

Lunch With Friends

Melissa made a fantastic salad and an amazing dessert (Why oh why did you have to include dessert?).

And Brooke got to play with her "friends".  On the way home I asked her if she has a good time to which she replied in a loud and excited voice "Mom, you are not going to believe this but I heard James talk!"
