Note At Borders

The other day I was at Borders buying "The Four Agreements". While waiting in line to pay I noticed some pens for sale and there was also some paper there for potential buyers to test the pens. One positive individual had tested the pens by writing this note:

I Missed My Calling

Every so often I look at marketing genius' (Clear Channel is obviously one of them) and think, "I could do a much better job marketing that".

I am very qualified to create market and create slogans for the following:

Blackberry Pearl
Life with out pictures....its just too hard to describe

My Old Treo
At least it is not 17 pounds and 1 ounce

Proof that God loves us and wants us to be entertained

Yellow Phones
Yellow, not just for danger anymore.

Do not Meddle in the Affairs of Dragons for you are crunchy and good with Ketchup

Southwest Airlines Frequent Flyer Program
Time flies when your number One

VFW Pool Room
Keep your whiskey and butts off the felt

Nothing to Grande or Venti for us

Let's Support Cap'n Jeff!!!

Everyone knows someone affected by heart disease or stroke. Can'n Jeff will be walking, (even with his bad knee) in this year’s Inland Empire Start Heart Walk. He has set a personal goal to raise funds for the American Heart Association and needs our help to reach his donation goal. These are critical dollars for heart disease and stroke research and education. You can help him reach his goal by making a donation online.

Use this link "Jeff's Heartwalk Link" and you can make a secure online credit card donation directly to the American Heart Association. The website has a minimum donation of $25.00 but if you would like to donate less you can send a check directly to Jeff.

Your donation will help fight our nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers—heart disease and stroke. Both have affected my family. You are making a difference. Thank you for your support.

Starbucks Changes The Milk

Historically, by default all Starbucks drinks are made with whole milk. If you would like to customize to non-fat, 2%, cream or half and half you could just ask and they would happily do it. This Starbucks Barista used to always tick me off, here's why:

KT: Iced Venti Chai
Loser Barista: Do you want regular milk with that? (said loud enough for the entire store to hear, and just notice that condescending dumb look)
KT: Yes (said quietly)

This question makes you feel like responding "Yes, please, give me whole milk, I desire to be fat, lets tell the entire store" The question absolutely should not ever have been asked because I was making no drink customization, I was just ordering it as it came!

This week, Starbucks changed to 2% milk as the default milk used in drinks. I noticed a change in taste in my Chai (The Chai is much stronger since there isn't as much fat floating around in the drink to absorb it) so I asked the Barista, S16, what had changed. He stated that on the sly Starbucks had changed to 2% milk instead of whole but you could always order it with whole milk if you wanted. (I heard at the Starbucks in Phoenix they had signs announcing the change but no such luck here in SCAL) I told S16 and his Barista friend that I just couldn't order my drink as "An Iced Venti Whole Milk Chai" that would be like stating "I am trying to get fatter, please give me the fattest Iced Chai possible". The Barista friend then stated that several people she knows orders their drinks with half and half. Ick!!!

Anyhow, it is good to move to 2%, I will be experimenting this week with less pumps of Chai in my drinks to offset the milk change. Change sucks!

I Love Lucy-The Competition

Last night, I needed a self esteem boost so I invited James over to challenge me to a game of "I Love Lucy" trivia. Over the years I have battled out many family members and never lost a game. At times James and Becca have come close to victory but never succeeded. (Yes, I suppose you could say that I am the "Champ"-heh heh)

Well, I lost my first game. It was really close, and I barely lost but I did lose. Unfortunately for me I also had told James that last night's game would start an "I Love Lucy" trivia competition and now I am down 1-0.

Just to let you know how good we are at "I Love Lucy" trivia there were two questions last night that James and I knew were wrong (according to the boardgame). The first question was a True/False: In "Ricky sells the car" Ricky sold the Pontiac for more than he paid for it. The boardgame had the answer as "True" but I knew it was "False". In order to prove it we proceeded to put that episode on the TV and I was proven correct. The second question was: In "The Agent" what was the name of the MGM executive in charge of Ricky's contract. As soon as I read the question to James he said "There is no episode entitled "The Agent" and guess what, there isn't but he still knew the answer to the question.

I dare anyone to challenge us.........

Hockey Season Begins!

Last year (thanks to the new Kim Evans and her father) we become big fans of the Anaheim Ducks. We ended up going to several things and we both enjoyed it immensely.

On Thursday, we were fortunate to go to the first pre-season game of 2007. Here is the view from the seats (which were excellent, btw) Unfortunately, the Kings won but hey, it's preseason and the Ducks were testing out different goalies and changing up a bunch of players. The seats this year are awesome and you are able to order your food directly from your chair and not miss any of the game standing in line. Can't wait till the next game! Go Ducks!

On LA Ink Last Night.....

First, in addition to Kat Von D there was another KAT featured on the show. Two KAT's, interesting, REM always calls me KAT.

Second, Kat Von D surprised one of her best friends by having her face tattooed onto her thigh. On this show people often get portrait tattoos and in fact, that is Kat Von D's speciality. I can't imagine getting someones face tattooed onto my body. This is a truly unbelievable sign of friendship. Here is a photo of the tattoo and I credit three things for allowing me to take this photo: (1) My Blackberry Pearl, (2) My Tivo, (3) My Huge TV

Lastly, to answer everyone's big question: I have decided that for now that I am not getting a tattoo. I may change my mind but for now it is on hold indefinitely.

Starbucks Marketing

I am pulling a Queen Bee today and I actually have some required reading. Please read the article and then note the following questions/observations:

*Of course the kid wants a Chai Tea
*I have only ordered a "short" once. Has anyone else ordered a short?
*Everything at Starbucks comes in decaf except Chai Tea so I don't see the issue
*Is it a problem that when Joshua sees the Starbucks logo he says "Mama"?

Bumble Bee Says: Kim You're Overdoing It

Sitting alone in a hotel in Reno must get pretty boring. With so much time on his hands he must do his best to avoid getting arrested so Bumble Bee chooses to use his spare time by flipping through the Reno Yellow Pages. Now, that's some good clean fun! In this case he notes: "Kim, I have heard of stretching yourself to thin but I think this time you are overdoing it" LOL!

BACN or Bacon?

Is there possibly an internet acronym that I don't know? BACN, pronounced Bacon, means email that you want but don't need to read now. The mail is not unsolicited but how often do you actually read news from your ING Direct account? I just learned of this acronym today. You can read more about Bacn in this article and even Wikipedia now has a definition for BACN.

It seems that people just can't get enough of Bacon these days. From Bacon Bandaids to Bacon Salt, and now Bacn in your email, Bacon is everywhere.

Beware Antagonistic Suzie!

This woman (I apologize for the bad photo) is known by her mother (her head in foreground) as "Antagonistic Suzie".

Suzie was terribly antagonistic and rude to her ailing mother who was in a wheelchair in the pre-board line. In fact after an argument which concluded with "AS" stating that she would never go traveling with her mother again her mother stated that she was revoking AS's right to pre-board with her and she would have to board with the rest of the "C" people. LOL!

Tuesday, Janelle Returned To Big Brother

Read about Janelle's return here! I must say I was a bit disappointed not to see more of a feature of my favorite reality stars return on the Rachel Made Me Do This Blog or the Queen B Blog but since I had a crappy week of blogging, I will give these two a break.

Three things on this yesterday:

(1) Someone pretending to be Tony actually left me a voicemail just to spite me. I say they were pretending to be Tony because he always leaves me voicemail out of of spite.

(2) While sharing an office yesterday (for about two hours) I overheard someone call another person three times and leave three different messages. All said basically the same thing "I'm trying to get ahold of you, it's important" was the gist. Wouldn't the person call back after retrieving the first? This is precisely why I did away with voicemail.

(3) I was lecturing a couple people on phone habits yesterday and mid sentence I paused and said "I'm feeling a little bit like a hypocrite because of my voicemail message"

You have reached the voicemail of Kim Thomas, please do not leave a message :)

Virginia is For Lovers, China is Not

On the Chinese equivalent of Valentines Day three policeman in plain clothes arrested and fined two lovers for hugging. While the policeman ended up being disciplined apparently the Chinese government is not fond of public displays of affection. Nice. Read More

The 4 P's (AKA: 5 P's and 2 B's)

The lesson of the day is brought to you thanks to the "Eyewitness News" and their coverage of the Acton fire. (First, yes, I watched the news today. Shocking to those of you that know that I generally boycott the news. No doubt the reason why will be shared with you someday.)

If asked to evacuate your home you should plan on taking the 4 P's with you:

And if your Kim Thomas you should add 1 more P:
Personal NAS drive
and 2 B's:
Bible (My Grandma's)

Skipped the Race

Well, I was supposed to go to the NASCAR race today in Fontana but I wasn't counting on in to be 115 degrees today! So, bottom line, I bailed on it, as did mom. The guys all went and when we dropped them off it was 108 and two hours before race time. Right now I am flipping between the race and Big Brother and enjoying my cool house at 73 degrees.
