I thought I was screwed when I saw this spot, then I read the sign. Nice timing, probably the last opportunity I had to use it too.

So It's Wednesday......A PG Update

And there is no baby Brooke, no baby Cannon and no baby Katherine here yet.

What we know:

*She is just about the size of Sydney at birth (7.5 pounds now, Sydney was 7.6)
*She is head down and dropped low
*I am 4 pounds above the weight I was when Sydney was born
*She will be here sometime in the next week and a half

38 Weeks: A PG Update

This morning I had non-painful contractions every 2-3 minutes for about 4 hours. This is how labor with Sydney started so i figured that by tonight we would be getting this show on the road. Around 11:00am, they stopped being regular and while they continue, we continue to wait. I personally think she will be born on Wednesday and that will work great except for the fact that everybody knows that while Monday's child is fair of face, Wednesday's child is full of woe. Nothing good about that.

I worked just about all day today and am planning on working tomorrow as well. It may not be as easy as it was today though since I do most of my work through my cell phone. Tonight, David had two items that were critical on his plate: (1) Get the newborn clothes out of the attic so we could throw them in the wash (2) Get the carrier and base down from the attic so that she could come home from the hospital with us. At around 8:20, his two tasks were diverted for an urgent request. What could be more urgent that the two above items? How about a brand new Droid that had fallen into the bathtub full of water.....yup, and it wasn't a splish splash, it was fully submerged. Last text was to Queen B.

So now, the 38 week pregnant, Hot IT Chick, that doesn't have a home phone has no cell phone. (David is blow drying the phone, this worked once when I had a mishap in Phoenix with the Pearl, I am holding out a wee bit of hope)

Oh by the way, her name is no longer Katherine, we are 99.9% sure it is Brooke and no Brooke was not on the list.

Week 33-PG Update

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I was on bedrest. Basically, at week 30 I started having some pre-term labor and the doctor imposed bedrest on me. This week he allowed me to return to work on a work from home basis so thats where we are at. This stage of the bedrest will probably last 2-3 more weeks and then we'll see what happens.

Katherine has been breach the entire pregnancy. The doctor thinks she turned last week because of where he picked up the heartbeat. That is fantastic news since I want to avoid the C-Section if at all possible.

The heartburn this pregnancy has been horrific. I've been doing the 2 Pepcid's a day and tums and it hasn't been enough, I have been absolutely miserable.

If she is born at 36 weeks, it will be Laura's birthday. If she is born at 37 weeks it will be dad's birthday and if she is born at 40 weeks it will be 2/22.

Katherine Elaine Thomas

As you know, we have been trying to come up with a name for the baby girl due 2/22/10 for sometime. Before finding out it was a girl I was sure her name would be Cannon. I still love Cannon (even though websites insist it is a boys name) but we just decided that she wasn't Cannon.

Katherine has long been a favorite name of mine but I love the full name Katherine and don't really care for many of the short names. We will strive for keeping it Katherine.

David had decided several months ago that he wanted the middle name to be Elaine (his moms middle name) so we decided that Katherine (One of my moms aliases) would be a perfect first name.

The decision was made on my birthday, exactly two months before her due date. We can't wait (but we want to wait at least 6 more weeks) for Katherine to be here. I am hoping that now that she has a name she will decide to un-breach herself and uncomplicate things.....well, you know that second children have a tendency to just do their own thing. :)

Week 24: A PG Update

*Well, no-name is breech. At 24 weeks I have been assured not to worry about this but overall I am not too happy with the news. I guess this explains the kicking on my bladder.

*I have been told twice this week that I just need to name her Mia and move on.....probably.

*The H1N1 shot is coming my way later this week. Luckily I will not have to stand in line like Kfuj did since I can get at my doctors office

*Today, (because of the breech) Dr Grady couldn't determine the sex. Thank goodness for that 3 D Ultrasound....5 weeks ago

*The state tests came back and all was negative. Two thumbs up for that :)

*My blood pressure is always lower when pregnant. Today it was 122/77

*I have gained much more weight this pregnancy. Not thrilled about it, need to dial it back.

*Pepcid twice a day is working out great

*Sydney is now pointing to my tummy if you ask her where the baby is

*2/22 is a Monday, which means if she is born on due date (and with 2/22) she will be born during hour 8 of 24. I hope she doesn't come during the middle of the episode. ;)

*Can't believe there is only 16 weeks to go............

We Must Name This Child!

We have no name for her. I am frustrated, this task should not be that hard. It was so easy last time, hopefully this doesn't mean that everything about her will be harder. Good news, the pregnancy has been easier. Back to her name. I have started calling her by a different name everytime I talk about her. Just a couple of minutes I commented on a blog and reffered to her by one of the options. I wonder if Jenn will think we actually picked a name when she reads it.

James came up with Camia the other day since it was a combo of Cannon and Mia. I actually liked it and and then Mom yelled it out loud. Yeah, that will never work. Can't you just picture Sydney "Camia", "Camia", "Camia" at the top of her lungs. Nice.

We Don't Yet Know Her Name

On November 19, 2007 I announced on this blog that Sydney was on her way. Today, I am announcing that a soon to be named girl is on her way! Last Monday, David and I went to the doctor expecting an ultrasound to find out the sex. The doctor said "We'll do it next time, at 22 weeks". Figures, 22.

Saturday morning I woke up and decided I couldn't wait any longer. The only way around waiting was to go and get a 3D Ultrasound. After Sydney's 3D Ultrasound I swore I wouldn't get another one but I changed mine and decided to get the "gender determination" package. This is the cheapest package that basically gives the sex and a couple of photos. She did better than Sydney did on her 3D Ultrasound. You could see her face, soft spot, arms and legs and definitely tell that she was a she.

We were all shocked that it was a girl-everyone was expecting this arrival to be Steven. Her name is not even close to being decided but Cannon is in the lead. Suggestions????

Sydney's blog announcement received 40 blog posts. So should I feel bad that the latest announcement so far has only received 13 blog comments? Well, times have changed since 2007. Given my choice I would prefer blog comments (on blogger) to affirmation on Facebook or any other medium but I am not going to complain at all about the love and congratulations I received on Facebook today.

Sydney's Announcement

What Sydney is reading to us:

1. Big sisters should be 22 months older

2. When expecting a sibling you don't know right away if it's going to be a little brother or a little sister.

3. I am so happy that I am going to be a big sister on or about February 22nd. (No joke folks, thats the due date)

Sydney's 3-D Ultrasound

A little over a year ago I decided to get a 3-D Ultrasound of Sydney. I had only seen one before (Ben's daughter's) and it looked really cool. So off we go to get it.......

















I couldn't make heads or tails (no pun intended) of any of it and a couple days later I showed Laura the pictures (figured the Radiology background could help me translate the pictures), she couldn't tell what most of the body parts were. This is the exact reason why the Radiology Technicians aren't supposed to tell you anything and respond to your query of "Does everything look okay" with "We are not allowed to share the results with you, they need to be viewed by the doctor first". So what does Laura say to Kim's query? "When you go to your next doctor appointment you should ask him what this is, I'm not really sure". NOTHING GOOD ABOUT THAT!

So I go to the doctor and I specifically ask him about picture number 1 and 3 and he says "I'm not really sure, you know these pictures are not as good as they could be. For the next 4 months I was terrified I was having an alien.

When she finally made her appearance I just asked "Does she look relatively normal?"

Moral of the Story: Don't go for the 3-D Ultrasound

It's Now Happening To Me

It happened to Bianka back in February and now it is happening to me. All baby hormones are gone and I am now losing my hair hand over fist. Speaking of fists, my hair is always in Sydney's and it is really disgusting. I have always complained about losing hair and then I went through pregnancy and lost none-it was great! Too bad that at this rate I will be bald in a matter of days

She's Here!

So, yes, I am the last one to announce her arrival. Why am I late? Is it because I was too tired to blog? Nope! Is it because my life has already changed so much I haven't had any interest in blogging? Nope! It just so happens that my Verizon Wireless Broadband card has a terrible signal in the hospital and I keep getting disconnected. When I do get connected it is at modem speed....unbelievable. Anyhow, I guess this blog should not be about technical difficulties but about Sydney's arrival.

Sydney arrived yesterday, April 7th at 1:20PM. She weighed in at 7 pounds 6 ounces and was 21 1/4 inches long. Everybody that sees her comments on two things. (1) How long and beautiful her eyelashes are (2) How much hair she has.

After much debate, the official spelling of her middle name is LeeAnn. We are super excited and of course we think she is perfect. The pediatrician says she is healthy and both her and I are feeling pretty good. We go home tomorrow.



For those that want the labor details here is the summary:
*Contractions started around 8:00PM on the 5th and varied between 2-20 minutes apart.
*The labor was back labor and it hurt pretty bad
*On the 7th at 3:30 AM we arrived at the hospital, dilated at 4. By 4:30 I had the epidural and from that moment we had no more pain. (Yeah!)
*At around 1:00PM I started pushing and she popped out 20 minutes later.
*Overall, everything went very well. I have no complaints. (Yes, you read that right)

Well, It's The 4th (A PG Update)

Sydney's due date has come and gone......and no, she has not arrived.

Here are the results of the "How much will Sydney weigh" poll:

I went to the doctor yesterday and he basically said that she is not ready to come out. He also said that the shape of my pelvis (apparently, it's narrow-who knew?) will make it more difficult to get her out......nice. So, he has decided that we should wait until next Wednesday (the 9th) and see what type of progress has been made. (I didn't get the feeling that he had high expectations that alot of progress would be made but he wanted to "try") If not much progress has been made we have been scheduled for a c-section on Thursday, (the 10th) at 5:30PM.

BTW: There is a new pg poll.

P.S.: I am dying to know who in FSO guessed closest to 5:30PM on Thursday the 10th.

Off For 3 Months (Sort of)

Before I get too deep into this blog let me say that I realize that I will not be "off" and doing my own thing with no responsibilities for the next 3 months. I get it, I'll be taking care of a baby. With that disclaimer, let me get to the meat of this blog:

Today was weird. When you go on vacation there is tons of stuff that you don't hand off because it can wait, when you are going to be gone for 3 months things just can't wait that long. For the last month I have spent my time finishing up every outstanding project, issue, phone call that I owed and all other items that required my action. At the end of today I had no Peoplesoft worklist items, ZERO emails in my inbox, no outstanding Outlook tasks.

I left the office feeling great! I feel confident that everything that could have been finished, has been. I also feel really grateful that I work with such great people who always take care of business whether I am there or not. You all rock! Thanks for giving me the peace of mind that I can be off and not have to worry!!!! You're the best!
