Monday night I was on my way to the leadership retreat driving a mini-van full (yes, mini-van) of IT men. On the drive my mom called and the following conversation ensued:
Mom (slightly crying): I have a problem, I think I broke my toe
Kim: What? How did that happen?
Mom: I dropped my computer on it. What should I do?
Kim: Put ice on it
Mom: I did
Kim: Well you can go to the Urgent Care and get an X-Ray
Mom: Will they do anything to treat it?
Kim: I don't think so**Mom decides not to go to ER/Urgent Care but thinks she broke it**
**Kim gets off the phone, tells the whole van and laughs**
Fast forward 22 Hours
I am at Deena's house and am walking in the backyard and don't see a step. I swing my foot into and am in instant pain "I think I broke my toe". 18 hours later, it's confirmed. My toe is black and blue and I am in so much pain! So how can my mom break (or almost break) her toe on Monday and I break (or almost break) my toe on Tuesday? I don't normally believe in karma but I'll tell you this, next time mom gets hurt I'm not gonna laugh.

Tonight, I was boarding the flight to Phoenix and the man in front of asked the captain if the flight was full. The captain turned around to go look at the manifest and I said to the guy "It's Empty". I said this because I was A17 and there were 2 people that had boarded in business select and it didn't look like there were even any B's at the gate. Here's the rest of the conversation: Man: "I was asking the captain". Kim: "O-K"Captain (comes back): :The flight is empty"Man: "Well, I guess I should have just asked the expert here"Proof that the flight was empty: (BTW: Love the guy catching my not so discreet photography)

I love Sushi on Brand in Glendale. The sushi is just okay but they have this awesome tempura called W.A.T. It stands for Whitefish Asparagus Tempura and it comes with a ponzu sauce for dipping. It's fantastic. I have been wanting to take David there for awhile and tonight we were in Glendale and decided to go. It was a great meal.
Sydney particularly enjoyed her dinner. By the end she was dipping her spoon into tempura sauce and licking it over and over. I couldn't help but crack up at her plate when she was done.
I never eat bagles. Number 1 reason is because of the carbs and calories but generally I just never really want one. I had gone twice to the Noah's bagels by my house and both times I was so offended by the store manager (or owner) that I swore I wouldn't go back. She was rude to her employees and I felt treated them horribly. Her behavior did not warrant my rewards by frequenting her bagel store. (I have actually seen her around town a few times and been rude to her so she knows how it feels)
For the last week my regular Starbucks has been closed for renovation. This has led to me frequenting the Hastings Ranch Starbucks which is right across from Noah's bagels. I decided the other day to go in......I ordered an Everything bagel with reduced fat garlic and herb cream cheese (I just can't say Shmear) So good! I was very pleased that the manager was not there.
The next day.....return trip....this time with a Jalapeno Cheddar bagel and garlic and herb cream cheese. Excellent. I also picked up a Cinnamon Raisin bagel for David with reduced fat plain cream cheese. The manager was not there again.And today......split a Jalapeno Cheddar bagel with a jalapeno salsa cream cheese with mom. The manager was not there again. (I hope she got fired or sold the business and is not simply on vacation)Regardless, the bagels have been great but I am looking forward to the reopening of my regular Starbucks later this week. Too many calories for me.P.S. This is not a PG craving (Don't even think it) it's a matter of proximity.

I saw Sydney sneaking the Blackberry Curve and the Sweet Tea. She stopped drinking and then began a one sided phone call on the Blackberry. Next, she noticed the camera and the familar smile came out. LOL (P.S. I cleaned the Pearl lens after these shots)

This morning I on put on a brown suede pair of Arizona style Birkenstocks. I carefully selected this pair since I was wearing brown shorts and wanted to make sure I matched. About an hour later Sydney was playing with my feet and shoes and I didn't notice the switch.....Right foot had been replaced with a black leather Milano style (backstrap) Birkenstock. On two separate trips out I proceeded to go to Starbucks, Costco, Michaels (twice) and the grocery store. It wasn't until a few minutes ago that I noticed. You want to talk about embarrassing? That is embarrassing.P.S. My ankles looks either a bit swollen or deformed also, I wonder how many people (like me) saw and took a picture.
I think it's all the vegetables I've been eating. I blame Jane.

You know, some trips are just better than others. We had a great day today at Disneyland! Love the picture of Sydney and David (although I wish David didn't look annoyed, he wasn't). So many good ones that this time I have to share several:
A couple of weeks ago Ash was updating my phone and realized that it was in really bad shape. This is the phone that had fallen into the 400 degree oven and been dropped numerous times. A couple of hours later he had a replacement phone (his old Pearl) configured. Love the new phone! Love the fact that the pearl is smooth, Love the fact that it doesn't look embarrasing, Love that the screen is clear! Thanks, Ash!

The waiters at the Chili's in Sky Harbor airport like to get "cute" with their name badges. This one made us think of Joshua.
A few weeks ago, Dad found this great fish taco place in Monrovia. It is located on Foothill just east of Myrtle and it's called "Baja Mar Fish Taco". Wednesday and Sunday their fish tacos are 99 cents! They also have these fabulous roasted chilies that are on the side. They are so fricken good! Spicy, roasted and sprinkled with salt and pepper-they are to die for.
So if you are in the market for some fish tacos-try this place! Today I had a potato taco (also on 99 cent special) and it was also excellent. (I love potato tacos but rarely find places that have them).

Delight your customers, make their day by your service. LOVE IT! There are only two things I don't like about Starbucks. (1) Liberal Agenda (2) Banned Cameras (although I just ignore that rule) and somehow I get past item 1.And rest assured: It's better than QT, better than McDonalds, better than Christmas in a cup at Coffee Bean, better than Dutch Brothers, better than Dunkin Donuts.
P.S. Not really happy about the fact that this cup caters to coffee drinkers (yeah, yeah, I know it's called Starbucks Coffee) but don't sell the greatest drink in the world short.
I got a pedicure today and when I was waiting to be called I noticed that Hans has expanded from their normal reading materials (People, US, Star, Vogue) to the Hardy Boys novels. I will tell you what, I love a good mystery and given the choice whether to read about Octomom, Jon and Kate or the Danger on Vampire Trail, I just may choose the Hardy Boys. Fortunately, I had my Blackberry so I just decided to read email and check Facebook.
