Friday Night In Chinatown

Tonight we decided to take the train down to Old Town Pasadena and on the way we decided that we would pass Old Town and keep on going. This begged the question, Olvera Street or China Town? Since we have never been to China Town we decided to try it. The kids had fun and we had a great dinner at Hop Louie. Yelp reviews are just so-so but we had a great meal and I'm sure we'll be back down there some other time.

Parking Permits In Pasadena

If you couldn't figure out what this was all about we have decided to put in a swimming pool. One of the inconveniences of this project is that we have to move Ravey (our RV has recently been named Ravey by Sydney) onto the street so that the workers can get themselves and their equipment easily into the backyard. Mom always complains that the City of Pasadena is always trying anything they can to get money out of you and I have found parking permits to be no exception.

When David was out of town last week I decided I didn't want to pull Ravey in and out of the driveway every night so I simply got a parking permit for 3 days. Note that the parking permits can be obtained for longer than 3 days and when picking up a permit you pick how many days you want it for and then place it inside the vehicle dashboard. It states the vehicle license number on the permit and the day of expiration.

We were within the time frames indicated on the parking permit and we received the following notice on Ravey: The vehicle appeared to be abandoned and we were in violation of a city ordinance. If the vehicle remained parked at the location for 72 hours it would be towed at our expense. If we didn't claim the vehicle in 15 days it would be sold. So you can buy parking passes for longer than 3 days but if you use it the city will determine your vehicle has been abandoned.

Regular readers will know that I loathe purses. Despite this purse hatred for my birthday I received a black day travel Coach bag from Jane.

I used it for the first time today and I was so discombobulated. I brought things with me that I would normally leave at home. I left my wallet at the coffee counter and worst of all I carried my purse with me all day from meeting to meeting. I looked like I was headed to the market all day. Still, I think I started getting used to it and as Sara pointed it out "Its not a purse, I prefer to think of it as a bag that is used for transporting items"

My Favorite Sound

The only competition for the sound of laughter is the sound of the hurried footsteps of a toddler. If you don't have hardwood floors during the toddler years you are missing out on this-sure you can hear it on tile and carpet too but its at its best on the hardwood.

Brooke is getting bigger and while she is still doing the toddler run and I am still hearing the toddler footsteps, each time I smile and then get a bit sad that this time of my life is almost over. Brooke climbed out of her crib this morning (she had been climbing out the last few nights but this was the first time in the morning) and the sound that woke me was her toddling into our bedroom. It was the best sound to wake me and as I was laying here reflecting on it Sydney stomped on in....yes the toddling toddler sound will soon be leaving my house and it makes me sad

The Moon Looks So Cool!!!

A couple of months ago we were headed down to San Clemente and I noticed how low, full and orange the moon was. It was so orange and so cool looking I called my mom and asked her to go outside and see if she could see this cool moon. I almost had David wreck the car trying to get a glimpse of it and of the course of the next couple of days mentioned the moon to several people.

Last week, I was passing through that same area (in the daytime) and took the picture to the right. What a dork.

I thought Brooke was giving a loving pat on the gravestone but she was actually rubbing her hand in fresh bird poop ;)

Honoring Uncle Paul

My Uncle Paul passed away on February 4th, today in Eagle Point Oregon we celebrated his life.

Uncle Paul was only 65, he had been married to my Aunt Kathi for 42 years. He served our country, was a great father and grandfather and I was lucky enough to have him for my uncle.

Thank you for all the great memories, Uncle Paul. I Love You!
