We Have Drapes!

For almost 2 and a half years David has complained on weekend mornings that the sun coming in the family room is blinding. A couple of months ago Jane was here and overheard this and since I was hemming and hawing about how I didn't know what I wanted so I hadn't done anything she offered to make us a temporary curtain. Since I really didn't have anything in mind I agreed to accept the help.

Well, the curtain arrived on Saturday and I couldn't be more pleased with it. The family room is so much cooler now and I don't have to hear anymore complaints about the blinding sunlight. Thanks, BFF!

New Photo Collection-Feel Free To Join In

Dumb Decision

I am sitting at home waiting for dad to return from a funeral that is 3 miles from Disneyland. He asked me if I could take him on my way to Disneyland but I didn't want to leave for Disneyland until 1:00PM so instead he drove himself. I could have taken him there myself for the 11:00AM and then gone to Disneyland earlier but I had insisted that I wanted to stay home to do other things.

Now I am sitting at home, totally irritated and waiting for him to drive back home so that we can both drive back to Disneyland together. Dumb, Dumb, Dumb, Dumb

I thought if I wrote this out I would feel better. Unfortunately, I don't. Pity Party you say? Yep, I guess it's a good thing I am going to Disneyland in an hour and a half.

Dinner With Sydney

This is what my shirt looked like and Sydney's dress looked like after dinner. Seriously?

Flat Stanley Visited California

First off, Flat Stanley was found! (Well sort of, lets just say he ended up visiting California). While he was here he went to Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, A flight to Sacramento, he got buried at the beach, the park, rode on a Cable Car in San Francisco, and of course went to Starbucks.

James Is Eighteen!

This is the biggest birthday tribute I have done because it is such an important birthday to celebrate. James has just turned 18. My youngest brother is now an adult. Wow! I remember when he was born, in some ways it seems like yesterday and in other ways I can't remember life without him. What a perfect completion he is to our family.

And now we have James as a 4 year old hanging out with his big sister. Followed by: James as Super Uncle, being brave, as an athlete, as a wanna be rock star, Mr Cool, Hot Stuff coming through, being funny (seriously, James is so hilarious) and being a great friend! Happy Birthday, James! I Love You!

Joy In The Backyard

The 22 Phenomenon

In the sixth sense the main character sees dead people. In the world of Kim1Champ she sees 22. We can thank Jane and my birthdate for this. (Everybody knows I am 12/22)

On Thursday I was on the phone with Jane and we were talking specifically about how many 22 sightings there have been lately. At the time I was walking through the Oakland airport and I glanced up at the wall and out of nowhere there were two tiny red stickers on the wall and on the red stickers was written 122. I checked the area and there were no other numbers on any other walls....so I guess in a nut shell, that is the 22 phenomenon.

The Bobsy Twins?

Apparently Friday was blue striped shirt day in the Pasadena office. They refused to pose together but I let them know that while unauthorized, these pictures would be used against them.....

Sometimes I Am In A Hurry.....

This is why I have lost my wallet 4 times since 2006 and 2 of those times being the last month.

My problem is escalating as now it's not as simple as an inconvenience (lost wallet), it is now causing me bodily harm. Last month I was mocked for my band aids but at least I had them.

Last night while making dinner I was using the small serrated knife (which was a poor choice, I should have just grabbed my trusty chefs knife) and I sliced my thumb so hard it sliced through part of my nail...yeah. It bled for over an hour and then bled again later and then again this morning.

Tonight while making dinner I used the large serrated knife (the serrated knife was warranted this time since I was cutting tomatoes for some guacamole) and I sliced my index finger on the same hand. This wasn't too bad but it made making dinner a little bit more difficult.

Finally Got My Jetta!

For as long as I can remember I wanted a BMW 325. I always said that if I couldn't get the BMW in it's place, I wanted a Jetta. (Yeah, it's practically the same car-eyes rolling). Well, my car has been in the shop getting repaired for the last month and a half and luckily, the car rental I received was a grey 2008 Volkswagon Jetta.

The other day, I got my Mountaineer back (and I couldn't be happier about that) but I must say I actually enjoyed driving the Jetta. It's easier to drive fast in a small car, you don't notice your speed as much as in an SUV. Not to mention the gas mileage was fantastic.

What's Up With The Blog Comments?

Has the blog gotten bad? Is anyone still reading? HCBC has been slow to comment (Not that I have been fabulous), comments have been terrible lately.

Jane The Boss

Several months ago, Jane received a promotion (Yeah, and congrats!). While I don't directly report to her there are frequent action items that I must complete at her direction. I am usually pretty responsive but last month in the middle of a slew of other action items and emails from her I receive the following email:

To: Kim Thomas
From: Jane
Subject: Needs to be updated
Body of Message: http://www.hotchickbloggersclub.com/

Seriously? Well, I never got to it and two days ago I received the same email forwarded to me with only the Body of the Message changed. It was updated with the following question:

Has this been updated yet?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Really? So far, I haven't updated it. If only for the principal of the matter.

Jack Bauer Is The Coolest Human

Season 7 was not my favorite but it was awesome!!!!!! Go Jack!!!!!!!

From Chicks to Dicks

Chicks sporting goods was recently bought out by Dicks sporting goods. You know there is something cool about working at Chicks but I can't think of anything cool about working at Dicks. This goes down as the worst store name change in history. The poor Chicks employees who used to be so cool now work at Dicks. How sad.

12 Years Later (Happy Anniversary)

P.S. How cute is Sydney in the jacket Diane got her? How cute am I in Andrea's gloves (They are coming back to you, my friend, I promise.

Flat Stanley Name Plate Searching

Tonight, Jeff and I went into a couple of shops in San Francisco searching for a Stanley California license plate. Apparently Stanley is not a popular name because we couldn't find one but we did find the following and there was no tampering on our part.

What Do You See?

When you first start flying it is interesting looking down from the plane and trying to spot things on the ground. It is so hard to identify anything in the beginning. I remember I could never tell which freeway was what and overall couldn’t identify anything. After several trips you can start identifying freeways and large landmarks. “Oh look, there is Magic Mountain” or “There’s the airport” or “The Staples Center”. This novelty eventually wears off as you become more confident in your eye-spying skills. The next mode you go into is really not caring whats on the ground. This mode could also result in you giggling or thinking people around you are dumb because they do care. Such inexperienced fliers…..lol

So today, I flew Ontario to Sacramento, not one of my normal routes and I happened to be looking out the window and I started paying attention to what was on the ground. I admit it, I got interested again, I also congratulated myself on being such a good landmark finder. Where I used to be impressed by my skills at major landmarks and freeways I am now really good at identifying streets, intersections and buildings. Considering I was on a route through the foothills that I am never on I was impressed with myself for quickly identifying the following from approximately 20,000 feet:

My street
Pasadena High School
Santa Anita Mall
Foothill Blvd
Madre Blvd
Victory Park
South Lake Avenue
Lake View Terrace

Sierra Madre Congregational Church
Pasadena Nazarene
Descanso Gardens
Glendale Memorial
Eaten Canyon Golf Course
McDonalds on Altadena Drive

Best Buy/Starbucks

Of course also, Burbank Airport, Santa Anita Racetrack, Rose Bowl etc.

But the real treat was seeing Half Dome and Yosemite Valley. Totally Cool!
