Play Houses of 2008

Last week at the mall that I was having lunch at I ran across these really cool play houses. I have no idea what the cost of these are but they are elaborate and must be upwards of 3000K. I loved them as a kid I would have died for one of these. Each one has it's own charm.

I love the log cabin. It reminds me of the woods, camping and great memories of my childhood. Sentimentally, this would be my pick.

The Beach house-totally cool! I would love for Sydney to have a beach house in our backyard!

The Victorian house that doubles as a boutique. This is cool. It gets points for being girly and for having an upstairs. We had a little attic in our playhouse growing up and it was cool although I have no idea how we even got into that small space-this is an actual second floor.

Lastly, we have the corporate office. Who would buy this for their kid to play in? Is this something that a CEO of a Fortune 500 would buy for their 5 year old? I thought it was hilarious. It was cool because it had a slide built in that came down from the 2nd floor and a rock wall.

James' Jeans

So the other day James was comparing the length of his old jeans to his new jeans. He wears his old jeans ALL the time. During the comparison I pointed out that his old jeans had one leg significantly shorter than the other.

His jeans usually bunch up at the bottom and apparantly, he had never noticed. RO!

My sister Rachel!!!! She appeared on Trivial Pursuit America Edition. This game show is on Fox and Rachel appeared asking a question yesterday. Here she is:

Big Aspirations or Child Labor?

I saw these toys last week at Toys R Us and they made me ponder the purpose of these toys. The way I see it there are only two possible options:

(1) The child has told their parent "When I get big I want to be a housekeeper?" or

(2) The parent has decided to get these "toys" in order to put their child to work. Child labor through trickery.

Happy Birthday to Rachel and Dawn!

Both of their birthday's were mentioned in the Kim and Laura show episode 2 but I don't blame anyone for not getting to the end to see that.

How great it is to have your birthday on day 22 of the month! People with 22 day birthdays are indeed a special breed. Dawn, Rachel, Queen B, Me....are there others here????

I hope you both have a great birthday, I think Rachel's will be better than Dawn's since I just saw Dawn in the office and this is the picture I received from Rachel last night.

The I Love Lucy Trivia Challenge

The Newest Conservative

Burke Williams-Pure Relaxation

Tonight, Becca and I went for 5:30PM Pure Relaxation Massages. Heaven. Burke Williams (Our Favorite Spa) in Pasadena is just wonderful. I used to go relatively frequently but I have not been since before I was pregnant, last July. And actually on that visit the spa was broken-nice......

Today was fabulous! Of course after a year there was some change. For example they now have four types of beverages and two types of spa water. The traditional spa water with Oranges and Cucumbers (Yum) and a new one with Cantaloupe, Lemon and Rosemary (OK). I won't even go into what happened in the steam room. LOL

AND we got 20% off since I had a coupon AND we got a free $20.00 gift certificate. Looks like I'll be going back!!!!!

Lastly....On the sign below. Is it really for my security that I am not able to text message? And, how much am I disturbing other people by responding to email on my blackberry? Oh yeah, I forgot, I can't respond for my own security. I'm assuming Facebooking falls into the etc. I must admit, I love seeing Voicemail prohibited. (For the record I sent two texts, two blackberry messenger messages, updated my Facebook status and sent 5 emails.....oh and Becca and I were only told once to lower our voices.)

Two Towels For Sale in Malibu

Check out the picture below. The For Sale sign says "Bath Towels, $2.50". This man was in Malibu, with his wife selling TWO beach towels that were identified as bath towels. (No there were not additional towels in the bag, he had it open and there were none int there).

So I ask.....Who goes to MALIBU (The richest city in Southern California) to sell TWO towels to make FIVE bucks? The For Sale sign probably cost two bucks!

This Shoe Season Is Terrible!

This year has brought terrible shoes. I hate open toed shoes, I hate super flat shoes with skinny tiny heals, I hate platform shoes, I hate shoes with patterns. The other day I went looking for shoes, take a look at some of the seasons best:









This is a serious huge crisis! My shoes are falling apart, I need new ones and these are the choices I have? UGH!!!!

May We Not Forget

On this September 11th may we not forget the vulnerabilities of our Nation and how lucky we are to live in the United States.

Thanks goes out to our military men and women who spend so much time in harms way and away from their loved ones to ensure that we are kept safe.

Let us thank God that there has not been an attack on American soil since 2001 and lets remember all who lost their lives on September 11th and all that have been lost in the fight for Freedom.

Last Trip To AZ

Besides work, my last short trip to AZ included: Bahama Bucks, KT on John's Harley, Dinner with a great group of friends and lunch with the miracle baby, RuthAnne and BFF. I wonder what my next trip (Tuesday) to AZ will bring????

She's 5 Months!

Today we went to the park and Sydney went on the swing for the first time. Both Sydney and I wore our Ketchup shirts. Here are a couple of pictures from her 5 month birthday.

Two Stories From The Bridal Shower

Item #1: Today, we are sitting at a Bridal shower and somebody walks in and says that a black Honda is blocking the neighbors driveway. Rachel says "My Bad" and as she goes to stand up her strapless dress gets caught......that was seriously her bad since for a brief moment, the dress was around her waist. LOL! When she came back in she was wearing a sweater over her dress and declared she didn't want that to happen again.

Item #2: Aunt Cathy and her neighbor were discussing dinner plans and Aunt Cathy suggested they get "Colonel Sanders". I looked at Cathy and said "You just dated yourself" she said "Why", I responded "It's now called KFC". Then I told Rachel and Cathy that Grandma always called it "Kentucky Colonel".

Thanks mom! I have terrible 2nd and 3rd toes. They aren't exactly webbed toes but almost. I have always described them as two trees sharing one trunk. I was complaining about them to mom a couple of months ago and then I looked down at her toes and she had them too! She said she never realized they were funny while I have been traumatized my whole life over mine. It's amazing I regularly display them via my Birkenstocks. A few minutes later we looked at Sydney's toes and lucky her, she has them too.

Mom said I shouldn't say anything about them since we don't want her to be self-conscious but forget that! Not only will I make her aware that she has "special toes" but I am now sharing them for all the world to see.

The O'Brien Thruway

In honor of Kay's birthday I will tell the story of the O'Brien Thruway. Shortly after I began work in IT the hospital implemented electronic entry on all the doors to the facility. Facilities and Administration felt it would be unnecessary to place an electronic entry on the door leading to the basement that was next to IT. I was in an immediate uproar but the IT director didn't really care and didn't think that the additional 6 minutes of walk time (per ticket) was a big deal, "It's good exercise" was his quote. I was outraged at the productive loss. How could they do this to us?

What does someone outraged do when told no? They challenge the establishment and the good ole boy network (heh heh) and they go to somebody that can make things happen. In this case, I went to the President of the Hospital's Foundation, and my good friend, Kay O'Brien. I laid out the business case including the productivity loss and she looked at me and said that it was ridiculous we didn't have it and she assured me we would have an electronic entry by the end of the week stating if the facility wouldn't buy it the Foundation would fund it. Then she marched into the CEO's office and demanded we have an electronic entry. I don't know if the Foundation paid for it or the hospital but I do know that we had an electronic entry by weeks end. The following week we held a dedication and door ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the event. The whole hospital came and we had tons of food served. The entry is still there and will forever be known as "The O'Brien Thruway".
