On Top Of The World

On Saturday we took the tram up to the "Top of the World" at Teton Village. In all my trips here this was the first time we took the tram. The top reminded me alot of Glacier National Park in Montana. It was a great trip and the girls loved the ride up and down the mountain (Tram climbed 4,000+ feet in less than 12 minutes)

Lucky Mom

She always gets the front parking spot at the store and always picks the right line. A few weeks ago we were at Costco, I had been waiting in line for about 10 minutes when I realized mom.had all the coupons, I asked the guy behind me to hold my spot and I found mom waiting for a food sample.

After retrieving the coupons from mom I got back in line as she was still waiting for the sample. A few.minutes later I looked up and saw her waiting for me with a big grin.on.her face as I was next to check out.

Carmageddon Is Over!

If you didn't know, this weekend was Carmageddon in Southern California.

The 405 freeway (from the 101 to the 10) was scheduled to be closed the 16th and 17th but opened 17 hours early.

Alot of people are pretty happy that Carmageddon has come to an end. (The construction company doing the work received a $300,000 bonus for completing early, had they been late they would have been penalized $6000 for every 10 minutes each way was not opened or $72,000 an hour)

The Starbucks Presentation

Yesterday I walked into Starbucks and saw the table on the left. I mentioned to the manager that I thought it looked odd and I offended her since she was working on copying the presentation out of the Starbucks instructions. I was pretty impressed with the standardized instructions. Today, she asked for my critique of the finished product-Well done, I'll blog it.

It's a Super Salad!

I can remember it very clearly, I was about 7 at the time it occurred and we were in Northern California for my uncles wedding. Out at dinner one evening the waiter asked me "Soup or Salad", hearing super salad (I mean seriously who wouldn't want a super salad as opposed to just a salad) I continued to answer his question with the word "Yes" and then "Yes Please", all the adults were becoming annoyed with me and for a good 5 minutes I answered simply,yes. It was traumatizing, I was totally made fun of once everyone figured it out.

Tonight I took the kids to Tops and ordered a chicken strips meal for the first time. This was the conversation:

Tops Dude: 8 or 4
Kim: 8

***It was at this point when I realized the total of my order was $8.04.***

The Chair Situation

Recently they replaced the conference room chairs in Phoenix and what used to be the wall of chairs has turned into the building of chairs. Again, not sure I would cope well with this if I were the chair manager P.S. Note Lenore doing lunges on the first floor.

Celebration In Heaven

There is no doubt that when Nancy Gauntlet entered heaven yesterday there was a celebration for her arrival. I was not close to Nancy but each time our paths would cross I always left being overwhelmed by her kindness, generosity, and love of life, family and God. What a remarkable woman! She was an inspiration and friend to many, confidant to those closest to her and a faithful servant of God. An example for all of us.

We had the pleasure of having her daughters in our home in summer 2008 and part of 2009. Outside of family, Lindsey and Kristie were the first "babysitters" in our home and I was so impressed by the character of both of them-an awesome mom raised them. We are fortunate to have been able to get to know them-Lindsey and Kristi, you are in my constant prayers.

There were 30+ people at Rachel's baby shower and when I took the cake I had made out of the refrigerator I noticed it was leaning and I knew there was only one person that could quickly advise me on how best to cut the cake-Nancy was immediately summonsed to the kitchen. She had so many talents and used them all to help others, I remember when she had helped Becca redesign her kitchen and I had questioned the colors but once put together it looked incredible. When my grandmother passed away Nancy stepped in and coordinated food and flowers for the reception after the service. I recall coming back into the house after the service and seeing yellow daffodils in beautiful vases all over the house, it looked perfect and every time I see yellow daffodil's I think of Nancy and her beautiful spirit.

Nancy left for heaven suddenly yesterday leaving many people in with grief and disbelief. As Kristi and Becca have both reminded us: "The LORD is near to the brokenhearted." Psalm 34:18.

July 4th Weekend

Friday night Grandma, Sydney and I started off the July 4th holiday watching the fireworks at the Altadena Country Club-they were great. When the first one went off Sydney said in her deep voice "They are loud like fortissimo!" I thought that was pretty funny.

We spent our first night camping at Casper Wilderness Park in San Juan Capistrano. To say that the kids liked it would be an understatement. For mom, I was paranoid about rattlesnakes so I was "on edge" when they were playing in the campsite and when it came time to go to sleep Brooke would have none of it so that was a bit frustrating, other than that it was great! David took the kids to the river and as I was making dinner in the motorhome (I hate and will never use the word camper, David calls it the RV) I was feeling like a good mom.

On the 4th we went to Calafia beach in San Clemente and had a great time with grandma, the Krueger's and the Sauer's. David spent a bit of time playing in the ocean with and without Sydney. I spent a bit of time managing a very exhausted Brooke (remember she didn't sleep so well the night before), holding baby Abigail and playing with all the kids. It was a very fun day. Sydney and I finished off the weekend watching fireworks again, this time at Aunt Becca's (who was staying at Aunt Rachel's). Great weekend with lots of family fun!!!

Crocodile Birkenstocks

I left my ultra comfort Arizona style Birkenstocks (purchased on the 2008 summer shoe shopping trip) outside yesterday. I came back today and one of the soles is coming off, looks like a crocodile. I am not happy.

Discarded Pants At Airport

When packing for Phoenix this week I knew I was nor going to be happy with my Thursday outfit yet I threw it in my luggage anyway. Upon arrival.in Phoenix I mentioned to Laura that I was really unhappy with the clothes I brought for Thursday. Wednesday night I found out that Thursday was jeans day in the office which made me more upset about my terrible Thursday clothes.

Bottom line: I wore the outfit and after work and I discarded the pants in the Phoenix airport
