Saturday morning Sydney wanted to watch Madagascar, I put it on and then came back a few minutes later to find Sydney, Gloria, Melman, Marty and Alex all watching together.

The Alaska Cruise Recap: Day 6

While David went on a photo safari on saw bears and other wildlife, the rest of us walked through Ketchikan. It was a great a town but our time there was much too short. I'd love to go back!

The Alaska Cruise Recap: Day 5

We spent most of Day 5 cruising Glacier Bay. It was spectacular, the Glaciers here are in the process of receding and we actually saw several chunks of the Glacier fall into the Bay. I know that I don't look even remotely like myself in the picture of me in the Alaska hat (particularly the one second from the bottom), not sure what that is about.

But my mom is convinced they are giving me tummy aches.

A Note To My Husband

The day one of your photos appears on the front page of the Pasadena Star News, another one of your photos appears on the front page of the Sports section and two more of your photos appear on the inside of the sports section is probably not the day you should ask to buy a new camera citing that you "barely got any good shots last night".

Congratulations on the front page of the paper and the sports section. You rock!

In A Crisis, Remove Your Bra

As I pointed out in my earlier post, my favorite "tweet" of the day was the one that told me about the emergency bra that turns into a gas mask. See here for full article.

Basically, in an emergency you can take off your bra and have a a full on respiratory "gas" mask for yourself and as the article says "a friend".

I have to wonder, in a crisis don't you think someone would assault you for it? Still, it looks like a cute bra, it's good for emergency prepardness and for $29.95 can you really g go wrong?

The Alaska Cruise Recap: Day 4

There is alot missing from Day 4 in Skagway since most of my moms pictures were lost and David has yet to produce his for us. I will definitely add more of this gorgeous area when we get David's shots.

In Skagway we took the White Pass Yukon Train and it was awesome. This excursion than took us up further in the Yukon to Caribou Crossing where Sydney saw a plethora of animals at an Iditerod training camp. We then took a bus back to Skagway where we walked around the town, paid $13.50 for two Iced Venti Chai's that were supposedly Starbucks but not at all. Good thing we finished off the day at the Skagway Brewing Company where mom and I had the best cheeseburgers of our lives! Ironically, it was the Southwest burger and we were nowhere near the Southwest but it was FANTASTIC.

Flashback Friday (50)

Soft Boiled Eggs

Mom and I ordered soft boiled eggs on the ship. Once they arrived we didn't know what to do with them. Eventually, the waiter came back and helped us crack them, lift the top off and air them in these little containers. By the time that happened they were hard. Should have just gone with poached.

The Alaska Cruise Recap: Day 3

Day three was spent in Juneau. It was a gorgeous day, we had been expecting nothing but rain and we woke up to perfect weather. We first went up the Mt Rogers Tram and had a great time looking down on the city. After the tramway we ate at Tracy's King Crab Shack and Sydney decided to become a terrible two that would last for the next several days. After eating we went to the spectacular Mendenhall Glacier.

At Mendenhall we tried to duplicate Sarah Heese's Facebook profile picture. Darn that I didn't know this is where the picture was taken prior to going there or I would have worn similar clothes and posed better. Overall, great time in Juneau, but we didn't get to see Sarah Palin.

The Alaska Cruise Recap: Day 1

There is so much I could say that I have found myself overwhelmed and saying nothing. I don't want drag the trip out too long on the blog but there are so many things I want to share so if you get bored and don't want to comment on the 22nd Alaska post. I'll understand.

Day 1: We boarded the ship about 2:30. I was chastaised for taking a picture in the security area and warned that if I took another picture my camera would be confistakted. At 4:00PM the ship left Seattle.
