One Posted Placard Down

Someone at Southwest thought that they should cover up the no-smoking sign on the bottom of the seat back tray with a big plastic Southwest Logo sticker. I am so amused by this:

(1) Did they decide that there has been no-smoking in planes long enough that they no longer need the "posted placard"

(2) Is the Southwest logo supposed to improve the planes aesthetics? Or is it a marketing strategy?

(3) Who had to put them on the seats in the plane? Did the workers complain that it wasn't their job to affix stickers?

(4) In this cost-cutting economy who decided that this was an investment worth making?

City By The Bay

Several years ago, David and I bought a large Thomas Kinkade painting of San Francisco. The one we chose was City by the Bay and I love the scene in Fisherman's Wharf.

Several things have changed or aren't technically correct, for example: There are no Cable Cars on Jefferson Street, second the DiMaggio's and the Chop Suey restaurant are gone-in their place? Joe's Crab Shack (Two thumbs down).

Anyway, at the time of purchase I told David it would be cool if we ate at every restaurant that was in the painting. While we have eaten at Scoma's, (prior to purchasing City By The Bay) the painting is missing the Scoma's sign. We have returned to San Francisco 3 times since having the painting. Twice times we chose restaurants we thought were in the painting and then upon arrival at home realized they weren't in it. So when we came to San Francisco today, I told David "Castagnola's or Tarrantino's"? And he said "I was think of going to the Crab House" (Not in the painting!) On our walk back to the hotel I decided that I would visit the places in City By The Bay with my favorite Bay area manager. So Jeff, next time I am in town, it's Castagnola's or Tarrantino's!

BTW: The Crab House was delicious! David and I have now vowed to eat together at every restaurant on the Wharf that is not in our painting.

I'm Not Afraid To Look Dumb

Which is the only reason I can post this blog. This morning when Sydney and I were watching her video I was pointing out different things. "There's a baby", "There's a camel", "There's a penguin", "There's a sunflower". At this moment it dawned on me that the sunflower looks a whole lot like the sun.

Would You Like Some Chips In Your Tuna?

I very rarely eat chips. In fact the only times I generally eat chips are if I am at a Mexican restaurant or occasionally I will be a bag of salt and vinegar chips and eat a few at home.

I do have an odd habit though, when those salt and vinegar chips are around I tend to put them in my sandwiches. When I saw this picture of Elizabeth's sandwich I realized it must run in the family.

You've Got 30 Minutes

We decided to order Dominoes tonight but I really didn't want pizza so I thought I would try out their pasta and a salad.

When I went to order the pasta I discovered that their pasta can come two ways. The first choice is to have the pasta come baked into a bread bowl! That is seriously some carb hell. Just imagine Chicken Carbonara baked into a bread bowl for half a second. Ugh! I decided to go with option 2, just a bowl please.

So the mac and cheese was good, the Chicken Carbonara was just alright. I have had enough carbs for the week.

Disney Princess Tragedy

On a hot day in Southern California three Disney princesses decide to go for a swim. While Belle and Aurora floated peacefully in the cool pool, Snow White was met with an unfortunate tragedy (That did not involve an apple).

The Emergency Exit Row

I traveled with a new companion today and she did not sit in row 17 or row 22 of the plane, nope, my new companion sat in the Emergency Exit row. I would never choose this seat because it's smack dab in the middle of the plane. I have to wait way too long to exit from this location, unless of course there is a crash and then I will be in a perfect location.

I was shocked at just how much room there was in the Emergency Exit row. Combine the leg room with business select and it was sort of like flying Southwest first class. Regardless, tomorrow on my flight home I will return to row 22 or 23 and exit the plane first.

Elizabeth Loves Katie

Elizabeth gets more adorable and more sweet every single day! She is so cute and she is absolutely in love with Katie. She giggles when she gets to give her treats, laughs when she comes in the room and is always excited to see her.

Jane is always on the left side, I am always on the right. Looks like Sydney and Elizabeth are already falling into similar patterns.

Auntie Anne's Pretzels

I hate the smell of Auntie Anne's pretzels, it is a total food aversion. I know, I know, most everyone thinks it smells delicious. I do like the pretzels but the couple times I have had them it is only because mom or James bought one and shared with me.

Today, I went to the mall at lunch to utilize my Gymboree, "Gymbucks" (this will be a future blog) and was famished. I decided to get an Auntie Anne's pretzel since there was nothing else close by.

I ordered a jalapeno pretzel with melted cheese sauce and a lemonade. (This has to be the most out of character food order I have ever placed) They were out of the melted cheese sauce so instead I took the cheesy salsa sauce. It was great! Still hate the smell of this place but the food is pretty good.

Email For Others

Having means that I get mail for almost every kim thomas out there. I have shared a few from time to time and I received another one today that made me laugh:

Hi Kim,

I hope you and yours are well and happy. We have had the flu, not a real bad one but good enough to slow us down and keep us down for a few days. It really takes some shaking off. The pussies are wonderful and great company for me. I enjoy their antics and they play together really well. Bindhi still mothers bingo, cleaning and rushing to him if he meows. He is nearly as big as bindhi and I am going to get them to the vet in the near future to get them both spaded. I have not received thier paerwork and I was wondering if you post me this as I am sure the vet will want it. I dont know if you have our address so I will give it to you again. Messrs A.L. & C Whitby, 32 New England Highway, Thornville. Via Haden. Q4353. I hope you can post this to me as soon as possible as I am concerned that Bindhi will go on heat and I dont want her to get pregnant.

Thank you.
Kind regards. Teena

I Love Fresh Flowers

In April, I went to the Pasadena Farmers Market and bought several bouquets of fresh flowers for Sydney's first birthday party. I enjoyed having the flowers so much that that since than we have had fresh flowers in our house at all times. Every couple of weeks I go to the farmer's market and get two different bunches of flowers and they always end up in the same destinations in our house. (1) A group of daisy's above the kitchen sink, (2) a mixed bouquet in the foyer.

Naming Micah

After reading this story over at Laura's blog I decided to leave the conversation below as my comment and as I was writing it I realized that it deserved a blog of it's own. This conversation was between Joshua and myself about what to name Matt and Kim's baby boy (Due in September):

Kim: How about James?
Joshua (exasperated with my suggestion): We already have a James!
Kim: How about Andrew?
Joshua: We already have an Andrew!

Kim: How about Kevin?
Joshua: We already have a Kevin!
Kim: How about David?
Joshua: We already have a David!
Kim: How about Matt?
Joshua: We already have a Matt!

Joshua: How about Joshua?
Kim: We already have a Joshua!
Joshua: Yeah, but I want two

Do You See What I See?

A Stockton man is convinced that Michael Jackson is appearing on the tree in his front yard. Some are convinced but others think the image looks like Jesus or the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz. I vote Scarecrow.

Uncle Kevin Rocks!

He is great at digging sand playpens, (It worked great, next year he'll need to add some stairs), he walks with me on the beach, saves me from certain disaster, and picks me up so I can watch the waves! Thanks for spending the day with us!
