Skipped the Race

Well, I was supposed to go to the NASCAR race today in Fontana but I wasn't counting on in to be 115 degrees today! So, bottom line, I bailed on it, as did mom. The guys all went and when we dropped them off it was 108 and two hours before race time. Right now I am flipping between the race and Big Brother and enjoying my cool house at 73 degrees.

Smart decision. I thought about you this morning when they said on the weather how hot it was going to be out there. It must be almost unbearable for the racers. Additionally, nothing like a little 4.7 earthquake out that way to shake things up. I spent the day down in Seal Beach with Lee.Only 85 degrees down there. BTW she says Hi.

I love the heat!!! I guess I am used to growing up in Altadena with 100 degrees summers and now living in OC, the weather is always the same and always 75 (maybe 80) in the summer. So I love the heat of recent days - being 95 yesterday down here was awesome and I went in our pool and pretended I was a kid again! :) But there's NO way I'd go to a race in the heat. I need to be close to the house so I can walk inside to the blaring air condition!!

Excellent decision Kim! It had to be 15 degrees hotter in the infield. With all the asphalt, generators, and people it was brutal. Even the kind folks with ice cold water in their spray bottles made it just tolerable enough to be miserable.

I was going to go to Disneyland today and had to blow it off. I just can't get excited about 107 degrees and walking around. I don't blame you one bit! How sunburned were the guys???? And, how do you get your house down to 73 degrees, I can't get mine down past 75!

I hope none of you move to Phoenix! 108 is the norm for us in the summer!
