I knew I was destined to have a great trip home with this many 22's on the way to Denver. (Note: The 122 on the plane meant there were only 122 seats-there are usually 137)

Last Stop...Caffe Medici

The last of my three Chai's today was at Caffe Medici. It was the first time I had Third Street Chai (Yes, that's a brand) and it was pretty good-much better than Oregon Chai. We enjoyed our quick stop here (and last stop of the evening). Everyone in Austin seems to be friendly and our awesome barrista Jordan was no exception. Great company, good atmosphere and a decent Chai-I'll be back.

Embassy Suites Hashbrowns

When I was in 8th grade we had a house fire. (Note: House fire is what I have decided to call it from now on, historically we said our house burned down but that is not exactly true so I have moved on to House fire). Due to the fire we lived at the Embassy Suites in Arcadia for about 4 months and I must say we were quite spoiled with cooked to order breakfasts every morning and a hospitality hour every evening. Our favorite item for breakfast was the awesome hash browns. They had a distinct taste and were super good. Our favorite item for the hospitality hour were virgin strawberry daiquiris.

Whenever I stay at an Embassy Suites I check out the hash browns and they never have the same ones anymore. There are usually breakfast potatoes or some other type of hash browns but last weekend at the Embassy Suites by the bay in San Diego I took a bite of the hash browns and they were the old hash browns I remembered. I determined that the main differentiator was chopped chives and they will always be in my hash browns going forward. 

Use Your Value Sense

I got this 5 x 7 trifold, color brochure from Vons with the note on the front that coupons were inside. When I turned it over there was an emblem stating $1.50 with of savings were inside. I thought, "Why bother, why spend so much money on this heavy cardstock, color, trifold mailer for $1.50 coupon", then I opened it to find two coupons, both for toilet paper. One for a dollar, the other for fifty sense. Again, why bother? And what does use your value sense mean?

On Sunday morning we took the kids to breakfast with Santa and Shamu. It was a decent breakfast (buffet style) but the kids loved the interaction with Shamu and Santa. Pretty cool experience.

Last month Becca decided to make a new recipe she found off Pinterest. It was an Apple dish and Becca declared that she just wanted to try it out as she had an abundance of Apples that needed to be used and figured she would test it out. When she asked mom her opinion the following conversation ensued:

Becca: How is it?

Mom: It's OK.

Kim: Just OK?

Mom: I mean it's not that bad

Becca: It's getting better

Kim: Yep, mom's compliments

Mom: Oh come on, I just mean I would make something better

Kim: Nice

Mom: No, really. It's fine

The Atmospheric River

Weather.com describes this storm as an Atmospheric River. I'm not sure exactly what that is other than a ton of rain but I certainly wouldn't want to be in Redding doing network cut overs in Mount Shasta during the middle of the night every day this week. Be safe!

First Christmas Project Of The Year

Well last night we made cookies but tonight we did our first real Christmas project. The girls loved this and were very proud of their work. Once again doing foot artwork I realize what an awful arch Sydney has on her left foot. Arch or no arch these are really cute!

The Big Skinny

On Halloween 2010 Sheila gave me a new wallet and I absolutely loved it! More than 2 years later I bought it's replacement mostly due to the fact that I have over stuffed it with misc.cards I don't need to carry around.  This is seriously the best wallet ever!

Oops We Did It Again

This shopping spree at the Disney Store is turning into one of my most favorite traditions. This time nobody was allowed into the mall until 11:00 and our shopping time at the Disney store was at 10:30. I went in through the back security entrance (where we have exited before on Thanksgiving night) and convinced the security guard we needed to be let in early. So while everyone else waited outside the mall in a terribly long line we were shopping in the Disney store. Loved the addition of Rachel to this night and I gotta say the deals we got were insane! We figure everything was about 70% off for us :)
