Elisabeth, Take Down Rosie!

Let me just start out by saying I am the last one to hear anything on "Entertainment" news unless it has something to do with 24. So today, I see a link about the Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Rosie O'Donnell feud. (For those that don't know Elisabeth she co-hosts the view with Rosie and became famous when she was on Survivor, The Australian Outback. BTW: She comes in 2nd on my all time favorite Reality Stars list-right after Jannell from Big Brother)

Anyhow, Rosie has apparently been giving Elisabeth some crap over her conservative view points and a couple of weeks ago said she was young and ignorant. I hate Rosie! Always, have, this doesn't help.

Lastly, as I was reading the article I found out that Rosie writes her blog in Haiku style! So I went to check it out because "her style of Haiku writing is so great" Here is her apology to Elisabeth:

i love Elisabeth
i hurt her feelings
i feel badly
she has forgiven me
i have not myself"

All I have to say is this is not a freaking Haiku! As we all learned back in our own Haiku blog: http://kim1champ.blogspot.com/search?q=haiku, Haiku's contain specific characteristics, none of which are found here. Champ to Rosie: All Haiku's are three lines only! Traditional Haiku's use 5/7/5 syllables and American Haiku's use 3/5/3 syllables. If you are going to call yourself a Haiku blogger, know what a Haiku is first!

Take her down, Elisabeth!!!!!

My Ode To Mervyn's

My first real job was at Mervyn's. They actually hired me when I was 15 1/2 and they hired me for the "Sportswear" department. I was not a regular Mervyn's shopper at the time and when I heard that I was in "Sportswear" I was so excited! I figured alot of boys must shop in "Sportswear" little did I know that at Mervyn's, "Sportswear" was the women's department.

I am sad to see that Mervyn's is going out of business. There is one pair of black shoes that is the Mervyn's brand and I love them. I must have bought them 5 times in a row. They are my standby shoes. Mervyn's is also a stop on our day-after-Christmas shopping tradition. Plus I still know alot of people that work there that will be out of their job. Goodbye, Sprockets, Hillard and Hanson, Cheetah and Ellemeno.

When I started at Mervyn's the big thing was to make it to become a "Blue Badge". To be a Blue Badge you basically had to be trusted to approve returns and large purchases. (They all had to be signed) A Blue Badge associate was identified by a thin blue strip under their name on their name badge. The day I became a Blue Badge I thought I was so awesome, especially since I made Blue Badge before most of the Christmas hires...and I was only 16. ;)

Everyone loved to be assigned to work "Stock". First if you were assigned to stock you were able to wear jeans. Second you worked in the back stockrooms and basically by yourself. In Sportswear we rotated the stock person but I remember in the men's department they always had the same stock person. Whenever I was the stock person I reorganized the areas. That was great!

The only thing that could beat out being a Blue Badge and working stock was being assigned to Fine Jewelry. The keys for Fine Jewelry had one of those little rubber key bands that you could use to put the keys on your arm or wrist. So not only were you in charge of the keys you got to publicly display the keys proudly on your arm so that everyone could see you had them. I loved responded to "Customer Service, Fine Jewelry". That was awesome. So with that I give this final Mervyn's Haiku:

I rocked as Blue Badge
Jeans was best dress for Stock Room
Nothing beat the keys
