Describe 2007 In One Word

This is the second of my two year end posts. There are so many words I could use to describe 2007 and having to pick just one is really difficult. The range of experiences, emotions, successes and failures for 2007 is great.

The word I am going with is: Odd.
Now it's your turn. Describe 2007 in one word.

Dumbest Baby Products (#1)

I anticipate that there may be multiple posts on this topic so I have entitled this with a #1.

Last month when Jane and I went shopping for PG clothes we saw the Baby Plus Learning System. This little belt is designed to be worn by the mother and when it is turned on it sends signals (via sounds) to the baby. Jane and I flipped it on and it made this loud swooshing sound that was absolutely horrible. We both laughed out loud and the sales clerk was really annoyed and began vehemently defending the product.

Today, while shopping for baby furniture with Kays we ran onto the special Nursery Purified Water. For $1.60 a gallon you can buy this special nursery water. RO! They had a whole rack of it at the Babies R Us.

Parking Decisions

Today, I didn't have $6.00 cash to park in the parking lot of the doctors office building. I had to go in for a 3 hour glucose tolerance test since my 1 hour test was high. I decided that since I didn't have the 6 bucks I would take my chances and park on the street. So.....3 hours later I emerge to find a $37.00 ticket. I guess that was my reward for starving myself and getting poked 4 times.

I Was Stuck In The Corner!

That was a phrase I heard for the first time about 10 years ago and every year on December 26th, I laugh and remind my mom of the story.

It's a yearly tradition, on December 26th we get up early and go shopping at Hallmark. Slowly, mom has added children to this tradition. It was first me, than Becca and today James came. Well, about 10 years ago we were at the Websters Hallmark on California Street in Pasadena when mom got stuck in the corner.

It must have been awful as when you hear mom tell it she got shoved down in the corner of the store and couldn't stand up as she was practically trampled by insane Hallmark shoppers. I must be a terrible daughter because every time I hear the story, I burst out at laughing and then exclaim "I was stuck in the corner". Today, mom and James did a reenactment for me in the exact same store, in the exact same corner. Mom, plays herself, James plays a crazy Hallmark shopper pushing her down.

The Hallelujah Chorus

I love the Hallelujah Chorus by Handel. It was written in 1741 with the words taken from the King James Bible. It is tradition to stand while singing this song. I wish I had gone to church tonight so I could have sung it and heard it live. You can actually hear a good recording of it by going to this link: Hallelujah Chorus

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

For the Lord God Omnipotent reigneth.
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

For the Lord God omnipotent reigneth
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

The kingdom of this world
Is become the kingdom of our Lord,
And of His Christ, and of His Christ;
And He shall reign for ever and ever,
For ever and ever, forever and ever,

King of kings, and Lord of lords,
King of kings, and Lord of lords,
And Lord of lords,
And He shall reign,
And He shall reign forever and ever,
King of kings, forever and ever,
And Lord of lords,
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

And He shall reign forever and ever,:
King of kings! and Lord of lords!
And He shall reign forever and ever,
King of kings! and Lord of lords!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Ghost of Christmas Past....

So today, I received two greeting cards for my birthday. Imagine how loved I felt when I opened them. The first was from Dave Meadows (The Sales guy that I bought my last car from) and the second was from Southwest Airlines.

Thanks to all of those that sent text messages, blog posts (Jane, Ann Queen B, Jenn Ann) and emails. You're the best!

Guess Who I Ran Into Today?

Today, at Starbucks I ran into my Junior High math teacher. She was there having coffee with a friend and I sat down and told her my two favorite stories from her class. Here they are:

(1) If you didn't hang your backpack or book bag on the back of the chair you ran the risk of it falling into the aisle. If she happened to walk down the aisle and your book bag was in it she would pick it up, walk outside and then throw it off the balcony. It was the best.

(2) Remember when you had your own personal chalkboard and chalk? The teacher would write the problem on the board and then you would have to work the problem out on your own chalkboard. In the event you were caught doing anything inappropriate with your chalkboard (like, displaying notes for others or drawing pictures etc.) she would come over to your desk, ask you to put your chalk down, take your chalkboard and then smash your chalk with it. LOL, How great is that?

The best part, her friend commented that these were the things I remembered from class and my response, "yes, I am not very good at math." LOL

Let's Name A Baby

Tony Williams and his wife are expecting a boy. The only thing we know for sure is they would like to continue the tradition with a name that starts with a "C". They have been unable to decide upon a name and so I think we should all help. I have a new poll going in the sidebar that will run for the next 10 days. Please vote on a name!

New Breakfast: $6.80

Here's my new breakfast:

A 12 ounce "Morning Glory" at Jamba Juice. The "Morning Glory" is part of Jamba Juice's new "Chunky Smoothies". They are currently only selling in New York and Los Angeles but are due to hit all Jamba Juice stores in February. The Morning Glory has soymilk, non fat yogurt, fruit and granola. It is super good and you eat with a spoon. $3.55

A Venti non-fat 3 pump Cinnamon Dolce Steamer from Starbucks. This is super good if you are trying to watch the caffeine. $3.25.

Survivor Finale

Well, I must say that I was very disappointed in the winner. Thats it.

P.S. How sad that a lunch lady making 7 bucks an hour got fired because of being on Survivor. Apparantly, she was a distraction with the kids since becoming "famous". So, she got a job as a night time janitor. This is seriously a reminder that things could be worse.

Ice Sculptures At Christmas Parties

Last night, we went to David's work Christmas party and they had a company logo ice sculpture. I can say that this was the first work Christmas party with an ice sculpture that I have ever attended. It gave me the idea that at tonight's Family Christmas party at my house I should have an ice sculpture. So, I made a current life size ice sculpture of Sydney......(She is now about 12 inches long). Here are the two ice sculptures, I think mine is giving ISEC a run for it's money.......

Do You See What I See? (PG Update)

Twice this week I have woken up and Sydney has been pushing out the bottom right hand side of my stomach. She does this all the time but twice this week she was pushed out so far that I could actually see her breathing. (For the couple of you that I mentioned this to I said heartbeat but I after thinking about it is obviously respirations)

Being the hypochondriac that I am I decided to count her breaths to make sure that they were in the normal range. Well, at first (when my brain was thinking heartbeat) I was alarmed because they were about 60 per minute and they should be at least double that for a heartbeat. When I realized that it was breaths I was relieved until I went to the internet and discovered that over 60 could be respiratory distress. Thats just great....I think I need Ruth Anne to weigh in her thoughts on this.

So a lesson here HYPOCHONDRIACS should NOT be able to look up anything medical related on the internet. (In case you are wondering I have known this for years however I learn things the hard way)

The three previously PG people I have told about this (representing 11 births) all said they have never seen this so I am pretty glad that I was able to. It is really cool, the first time you could only see the breathing for about 2-3 minutes but this morning it lasted for about an hour.
