Researching Error Messages

David's camera broke on Sunday. Every time he tried to take a photo he received an error message. He was looking in the manual for the cause of the error and a possible troubleshooting path but this is all the manual said:

"If you continue to receive error message #50 there may be a problem"-LOL

Shouldn't it be considered a problem the first time you receive error #50?!

Here are some steps to take to narrow down the error. Being a model and all... you know.

Try replacing the battery... if it is a rechargeable, try using regular batteries (if they are the AA style) just long enough to see if the error goes away. You might think your battery is fully charged, but it could be damaged and not strong enough to send enough power to write data.

If that doesn't work and you are using the internal memory for photo storage, switch to your memory card for storage to see if the error goes away. If so, quit using the internal. Not sure if getting the internal memory is even worth fixing.

If you are already using the memory card, switch to internal to see if the error goes away. If so try replacing the memory card.

After taking these steps and you are still getting the error, there might be a problem writing the data to any memory, and if so, I think you might want to consider just digging a hole and putting your beloved camera to its final resting place. Unless if your rich, you can just go and get it fixed.

Or just do what I do... Invite a photographer over to your house... Rock his world all night long... Rock his world all morning long also... this way he forgets his camera when he leaves and then you have a new camera to use!!!
