We lost our power today when a couple of transformers or circuits went out in Pasadena. I am typing this from my moms since she has power. There is a song I like by Oingo Boingo called "When the lights go out". The lyrics are not exactly true because:
When the lights go out
Not everybody has fun
Not everybody runs to a safe place
Not everybody was afraid
Not everybody starts to pray
Monsters & Madmen do not come alive
but if they did there are plenty of places to hide
We can't turn the night into day
Nobody started a fire in an alley way
Nobody seemed to go crazy
And I didn't see anyway praying to the cat's eye.
When the lights go out
People can still be trusted
Everybody is not running in circles
Not everybody started to shout.
Some people partied down.
There was a big shadow comforting me
But nobody broke windows just because it was fun.
BTW: 3 hours later, back home and power is on.

Hmmm...not sure I know that one.
California is often without power. Not feeling the cali love.
Since moving to AZ from Boston, we have never once lost our power. I'm told that's quite an accomplishment in 8 years. :)
Who the hell is Oingo Boingo?
Just a few days ago we were without power when Tropical Storm Fay visited. Part of me enjoyed the interruption from the regular routine as we played cards and spent time together. But, after an hour or so I was ready for air conditioning, good refrigeration, X-Box, tv and radio!
the soundtrack to your life...
Maybe it was some sort of weird magnetic field being emitted by the electric system that made your cell phone go crazy??
;-)
Ahhh Oingo Boingo...ahhh the fun we had at all of their concerts...love that song!! p.s. I need to you find an Oingo Boingo Tshirt, take a pic of it and blog about it! I smell KT Challenge Part Deux
Unfortunately, we lose our power every so often. Two years ago our street lost power compliments of VERIZON. They were installing the new fiber optics and one of their workers hit our electricity lines. It was over 100 degrees and we had my husband's family staying with us from Boston. I HATE when we lose our power!
I keep crossing my fingers that we don't lose power here!!
