Unknown Spider Bites
Last week I saw Queen B's Facebook status "Contemplating a trip to the Urgent Care", I contacted her and learned that she had been bitten by an unknown spider and her hand had completly swollen up. I advised an immediate trip to the ER. She refused. Two days later Matt tells me he was biten by a Black Widow (or he thinks) he also made the decision not to go to the ER. When I advised that he should have he said "Well, I would have gone if I started having trouble breathing"

Grotesque hand swelling after a recent spider bite is enough to get me to the ER. WTF is wrong with these people???
heehee. It was really cool. I had a bite on my arm, as well. All day I could feel that part of my arm get really feverish as my body was working to fight against the evil venom.
Urgent Care was closed for the day when I decided to go. Since it wasn't worse the next morning, I figured I would live through it :)
The body has an amazing ability to create homeostasis within itself. The swelling is a good sign; it means the body is working on healing itself.
Increased heart rate, dizziness, trouble breathing--then it is time to get help.
My butt would've been at the ER withing 15 minutes.
Thanks for the voice of reason, Ruth! But I still would've gone.
