No Longer Socially Acceptable?

The first picture is of Grandma on my birthday in 1978. She has a bunch of people over (we were also celebrating Papa's birthday) and she is wearing a housecoat. Everybody else is dressed up and yet she is there in her housecoat.

The second picture is a picture of Mom on my birthday in 1979. This year she is hosting the party for me and Papa and guess what? Everybody is dressed up and she is wearing her housecoat.

A couple of questions:

Is the housewife the only one allowed to wear the housecoat?
So when did this no longer become socially acceptable?
Do they still sell housecoats?

LMAO

They still sell house coats. My mom and eldest sister still wear them :)

Maybe only the host is allowed to wear a housecoat?
I can check and see if I can find you one. Blue for you?
I am amazed by how much Becca and your mom look alike, so cool.

Old ladies wear housecoats.

When I am old, I will wear them too. I mean pjs all day, that is why I am a nurse.

RO!

My friend Margo claims my work from home outfit is a housecoat :) I disagree...

I don't think my family ever wore them when I was alive. My grandma wears cute aprons when she's entertaining, so she doesn't get anything on her outfit. I wish I had a picture of her at our Christmas party!

My mother wears them to... although I don't think she ever entertained in them!

OMG... this is soooooo funny! My childhood is pure visions of my grandmother in house coats. That was her birthday and Christmas present every year.

My mom actually was more of a moo moo girl!
