This guy sat next to me this morning on my flight to Phoenix. He looked like the average business man and was approximately 50 years old. The entire flight he was intently focused on his reading material and was making notes, stars and highlights at the most interesting parts. He had two pens: The first was a purple felt tip and the second was a yellow highlighter. It was all I could do not to laugh out loud when I realized this important book was a manual for how to operate his DVD player. He placed a star next to "in order to remove a DVD from the player, press Eject". LOL
I would like to know what Queen B thinks about this because I think she also has the practice of reading operating manuals from cover to cover.

OMG. That is beyond nuts. I will go on record as saying that even though I read my Treo manual cover to cover (165+ pages) and often have to refer to my car manual for how to change the clock time, I have never... I REPEAT NEVER... highlighted or put a star next to anything in it. And if I somehow got the urge or felt the need to do this, I would NEVER do it in front of other people!
My only thought on this, after studying the picture very closely and eliminating a bunch of possibilities, is that he was doing this to freak you out, Kim. This is probably one of those items on those lists about how to make people think you're really weird. And you fell right into his hands because you Pearled it and blogged about it. He is winning.... ugh, but what a fascinating story.
LOL! That is funny. I would do something like that.
This gentlemen, of mature status, was probably heeding the recent warnings issued by Southwest Airlines regarding a rash of magazine mutilations. He was probably concerned that his selected reading materials would be yanked from his hands, pages unceremoniously ripped from the binding and the contents mailed about the United States. His safest option was to doodle in an old DVD owners manual. In retrospect he was wise beyond his years.
Maybe he worked for the DVD company and was editing the manual?
