What is the point of this? As far as I'm concerned throwing these people in jail is fine. It's almost a built in stupid monitor. If they would start throwing the people with more than 3oz of liquids in their bag or the people that don't realize they have to take their shoes off in jail we'd be getting somewhere.
I suppose I will be accused of being crabby again.......

I agree that the article is a waste of space, but I think it's stupid to arrest people for joking around or "saying the wrong words" in the first place. Doesn't Canada have something similar to freedom of speech? Wait a minute, we can't do that at American airports, either! Hmmmm....
I agree. If every person at the airport who says something like" I didn't know that had to be scanned separate" got thrown in jail, or at least detained till after their flight left, the airport would be a better place. But making jokes about guns/bombs, these people should have a lifetime ban on them. They should never be allowed back in an airport.

A person who announces "You better look through my suitcase carefully, because there's a bomb in there"...will still be arrested.

I totally agree... jail for anyone without a Ziploc, with more than 3 oz of liquid, who doesn't take their shoes/belt off when they're at least 3 people back from the x-ray machine.
