Twice this week I have woken up and Sydney has been pushing out the bottom right hand side of my stomach. She does this all the time but twice this week she was pushed out so far that I could actually see her breathing. (For the couple of you that I mentioned this to I said heartbeat but I after thinking about it is obviously respirations)
Being the hypochondriac that I am I decided to count her breaths to make sure that they were in the normal range. Well, at first (when my brain was thinking heartbeat) I was alarmed because they were about 60 per minute and they should be at least double that for a heartbeat. When I realized that it was breaths I was relieved until I went to the internet and discovered that over 60 could be respiratory distress. Thats just great....I think I need Ruth Anne to weigh in her thoughts on this.
So a lesson here HYPOCHONDRIACS should NOT be able to look up anything medical related on the internet. (In case you are wondering I have known this for years however I learn things the hard way)
The three previously PG people I have told about this (representing 11 births) all said they have never seen this so I am pretty glad that I was able to. It is really cool, the first time you could only see the breathing for about 2-3 minutes but this morning it lasted for about an hour.

In my two pregnancies I never saw anything but hiccups. Both of mine would get them ALL of the time. I never saw a body part or them breathing. Count yourself lucky!
And, if you think you are a hypo now, wait until Sydney is born and you read all of the baby books. That will be a hpyo's dream (or nightmare depending on how you look at it).
That is so cool, Kim! After I had Vicki, I found that I really missed being Pg, for a while. I'm sure you will, too.
Wow Kim that's so amazing that you were able to see that! I have yet to be prego so I don't know normal vs. non-normal. However, I do know that I classify myself as the world's biggest hypochondriac, so a.) we can be in competition for the title and b.) I agree wholeheartedly that hypo's shouldn't be able to look up health stuff on the internet. It only makes it worse!!!
wow, that is REALLY cool. DT needs to block WebMD from your computer!
VERY COOL! I'm anxiously awaiting the wise words of Ruth Anne...although about 60, isn't over 60, so I'm guessing everything is fine!
Actually for a newborn baby to breath 60/minutes is ok. The newer the baby the faster is breaths. (The older you get, respirations slow down. Adults range from 16-22.) Just remember, your baby isn't really breathing, it is just practicing.
Have you thought about it being hiccups? That shakes the baby's body enough it would be more visible for you to see.
