Now, the thought of buying "Swedish Fish" at a gas station is probably the least appetizing thing I can think of. Luckily, she explained that "Swedish Fish" is actually a type of gummy candy. I proceeded to check out Wikipedia to get the facts and some pictures of "Swedish Fish":
There are 4 different colors and flavors:
Red-Fruit Punch
Orange-Orange

Green-Pineapple
Black-Salmiak (Asian)
Ingredients are as follows:
Sugar
Invert Sugar
Corn Syrup
Modified Corn Starch
Citric Acid
White Mineral Oil
Artificial Flavors
Coloring
Carnauba Wax
After looking at the ingredient list I am still not super excited to have them. Doesn't sound too yummy to me.
BTW: It's called Swedish fish because the company "Malaco" is a Swedish company that exported their fish to North America. Swedish Fish today is manufactured in Sweden and Canada.

How is it possible that you'd never heard of Swedish Fish before?
I'm with you, KT. Never heard of 'em. And seeing that their ingredients include wax, I'm not so interested :(
They are actually pretty good. The only annoyance is getting tiny bits stuck in between your teeth.

Wow, Kim, have you ate anything not home made when you were a child? ;-)
My family is quite aware that swedish fish is my favorite candy.
BTW, it is very rare to find swedish fish in any other color than red.
Wow! You haven't heard of Swedish Fish? Probably one of the most delicious candies that exist! You should probably just try one, you'd really love 'em!
I think Swedish Fish was my Grandpa Rand's favorite candy.
We are so simpatico -- yesterday in the Sprouts bulk aisle, Roman and I got "neon gummy worms," the new generation's answer to swedish fish . . . they are sour sugar coated gummy worms. I can't decide if I love them or hate them.
Wow, you learn something new everyday!
they have blue and purple as well... I know ... I know I did not believe it until I tried it. :)
Who doesnt know Swedish fish? Fits in the same category and cinnamon bears and other stick to your teeth, corn starch and sugar mixes.

i am not a fan of swedish fish or gummy bears. however, cinnamon bears ROCK!
CARNAUBA WAX!!?? when i read that i thought "isn't that what they use on CARS???" and sure enough, it IS!
"Carnauba wax can produce a glossy finish and as such is used in automobile waxes..."

My friend and I were recently discussing about the ubiquitousness of technology in our daily lives. Reading this post makes me think back to that debate we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.
I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside... I just hope that as memory becomes less expensive, the possibility of uploading our brains onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's a fantasy that I daydream about almost every day.
