I was working on my taxes the other day and Turbo Tax prompted me to verify if I had any of the "Other Income" listed below:
Crime Hot line Reward (You really have to report this as income? You report the uni bomber and have to get taxed on the reward money? That sucks!)
Beverage Container Recycling Income (Who does this?)
Sale of a Bond or Note
Received Income from Foreign Sources
Water and Energy Rebates
Payments Related to Forest Land
Compensation for False Imprisonment (What about people who consider work or their home to be prisons?)
Grants Received for Energy Efficient Buildings
National Guard Surviving Spouse and Children Relief
Ottoman Turkish Empire Settlement Payments (Is this so common that it needs it's own entry?)
Other Income (I guess this is for income that is more obscure than Ottoman Turkish Empire Settlement Payments)

wow. yeah, I'd have a hard time coming up with other other income :)
Wow! Pretty obscure!
What about the Nigerian E-Mail I got. When I get that income, will I have to report it?
This is something I will never have to experience thanks to Striker CPA!
BTW, I now am in competition with myself to keep my blog as one of the latest HCBC updates. Consider it FHCBCUing :)
I think the Queen does Beverage Container Recycling...but i don't really know if she gets much income.
I wonder how much the Queen will be taxed for money that she makes off Google ads...
Who thought these up? Does that guy have to report being paid for "moronic input to tax program"? Good grief.
I am just mad a turbo tax right now. After everything was done and PAID, then they told me one of the forms I needed wasn't compatible with doing it online.
I laughed just as hard the second time as I did the first :)
I just googled this... it's only in California and it is a settlement dating back to something that happened IN 1915!!!! Seriously? Who is even around to collect this?
Got to thinking about your "other income" concerns and decided: 1: you probably need to report reward money so the agencies can us that tax to reimburse people who suffer damages from the actions of the criminal...whatever. 2) Oregon requires you to pay for bottles and cans when you purchase your beverage of choice, so every saturday I would run into other folks with 24 cases of beer cans in the trunk of their car in order to get back that nickel a can. Lucrative at best! 3) My sister still owes me ten bucks from 1967..wonder if I could sell that note for a profit. 4) I highly doubt online strippers report their earnings from foreign peeping toms, go figure....5)I am not returning my water for a rebate and also plan on keeping all energy produced by that hamster in the wheel who runs 24 hours a day. 6) who pays for forest land? I suppose if I bagged a pound to take home someone might wish to be paid for it, gnomes and leprechauns maybe pay real estate taxes? Good thing they do not tax me for tree loss, I printed your list (since I figured I could not remember the order) and the darn printer printed your whole blog....must have killed four trees. lol 7) I think I should be compensated for cube lock.... 8)my home is energy efficient as I refuse to turn the heater on...no one has offered my an opportunity for a grant...geez 8)did not know the National Guard was married or relieved of his children...one should not be taxed for a loss of loved one anyway 9)wow....wonder if I could get income for my ottomon...it is old...but in good shape...might be from Turkey, I will check. and 10) if you think I plan on inventing income the governement never thought of........forget it. Good Luck on this one.
Can you imagine the laughter coming from the programmers for next year's California software; I mean who ever heard of taxing a tax?
