Quality of Friendship

Facebook has redefined the meaning of the word friendship. Dictionary.com's first definition of friend is: "a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard", but when chatting with Queen B earlier tonight we realized that we had really lowered the bar on our definition of friendship significantly.

We have established the following general thoughts/guidelines around "friends":

I don’t want to be friends with somebody I hate
If I don’t recognize your name you are out

If I recognize your name as someone I don’t know
If I don’t know how to pronounce your name

If I see you in person and don't recognize you as someone I know
If it is extremely unlikely that I will contact you for the rest of my life (optional)

Also note: Annoying statuses that occur during the friendship maintenance windows may put other friendships at risk

You forgot to mention that rules do not apply to those deceased ;)

Glad you're my friend - by all dictionary.com definitions!

Main criteria is loyalty

These rules will be very helpful when I return

Nice. I agree with Jane, loyalty is #1.
