Praise Baby
Sydney has this DVD called "Praise Baby". The DVD includes slow transitions of nature, children, animals, other people and toys and it is all done to Sunday school type praise music. It's great, I think I love it just as much as she does. (I think David is pretty tired of it).
Anyway, there are certain people or figures that remind me of other people/things in my life. So we are going to play a game. Match up the screen shots with the list below. (There is a small letter in the top left corner of each picture.
Answers will be posted in a couple of days:
Rachel Edwards, Sydney, Cousin Christie, Nemo, Mom, Laura who is Jane, David, Joshua, Queen B, Jane who is Laura, Herston, Tony Williams, Woman whose face bugs me

Abandoned Stroller
Back in January, I wrote about the stray stroller that I saw one morning abandoned on the side of Altadena Drive. I commented that we probably wouldn't find anymore of these abandoned strollers but within 24 hours I received the follow-up photo below from Jeff. This stroller was found abandoned on a San Francisco street.
I would love to add an abandoned stroller from Arizona, Georgia, Texas and Kentucky.......yes, consider it a challenge.
P.S. And just to make sure you Californians aren't left out. Would love to find one in San Bernardino, Riverside, San Diego, Orange, Kern, San Luis Obispo, Tulare, Ventura, Santa Cruz, Alameda, Merced, San Joaquin, Yolo, Sutter, Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Tehama, Shasta, Sisikyou, Mariposa, Yuka, Nevada, Solano, Sonoma, Tuolumne, and the other ones near Sacramento that are too small to read on the map I have. I'll take one from Reno and Vegas too.

Quote of the Day: 03/10/09
Kim (Sounding totally exasperated) says to Larry: Man, this is so frustrating!
Larry: What
Kim: Well I keep cleaning out my email and then more come in!
Larry: Thats kind of how it works.....

The Small Pharmacy On Madison
The other day I was filling an prescription for Sydney (Yes, her first time with the pink stuff) at the pharmacy in her doctors building. This is a very small pharmacy with only two racks of drug store like stuff. One has aspirin, airborne, etc. and the other has Ace bandages, crutches, etc. I noticed the other five more racks in the store. They are as follows:

Junior Crisp Burritos
My favorite fast food item in high school was from Carls Jr and it (or they) was called Junior Crisp Burritos. Carl's stopped selling them in the early 90's and I have missed them ever since! They came in a pack of 3 or 5 and were soooooo very good. I could have lived off em. Last week I noticed that Carl's Jr was advertising "Crisp Burritos" and they looked the same! I was so excited to try them.
The other day I gave Andrew my ATM card and told him to go get them (He
agreed as long as I bought him lunch too) . Andrew came back, I took a great big bite of the first one and........ I said to mom and Andrew, "If this was the taste why did I like them so much?" I can't tell you if it is the same taste or not but if it is, it's no longer a food I can't live without.
Look at that, two fast food posts in a row......

I #9829; Shamrock Shakes
This was the best treat when I was a kid! Available only at McDonalds and in the great month of March are Shamrock shakes. Growing up you couldn't get a mint shake anywhere but there and only March 1-17th. Of course, nowadays, you can pick up a mint shake at any number of places (and they are usually better) but every March I return to McDonalds and get at least one Shamrock shake. Mmmmmm, I'm lovin it!

I Need to Solidify a Theme Song
Yesterday, Andrea blogged asking everyone what their theme song was. I responded that I didn't have one but if I had to pick one it would probably be "Sweet Child of Mine". I have always loved that song and when asked about a theme song I usually say that. Does it fit me? Should I pick something else? Any Suggestions? "We are the Champions" from Queen is also fitting.....

Copper Pots
Does anybody out there have any copper pots? I am amazed by the fact that people buy these. What makes them so great, except that they are made of copper?
I saw the pot below at Tuesday Morning's the other day, it was literally the size of my shoe and it was onsale-yes onsale, for $149.00. It was so small that I can't imagine what could be cooked in it. Maybe a fried egg, like the ones that go in the Egg McMuffin's at McDonalds would fit in it. The regular price was over $200.00. I don't get it, does anybody?

Don't Jump Between Cars On The Tram
It would never enter the minds of 99.9% of us to jump or climb between the tram cars at Disneyland. But if you are in .1% (or less) of the people that would consider actually doing this would you decide not to when you saw the sign that instructed you not to?

Can't you just hear the conversation:
Jenn Ann: Kim, you go first
Kim: OK, Hold Sydney
Jenn Ann: Got her
Kim: Here I go!
Jenn Ann: Wait, look the sign says we can't
Kim: Darn Jenn, You're such a rule follower.....

Way To Go, Sophia!!!!
Brittney, Sydney and I went to California Adventure today and were able to watch Sophia perform onstage! It was awesome and Sophia was spectacular! Sydney enjoyed it and clapped throughout the entire performance. Afterwards we hung out and went on a bunch of rides at CA Adventure. Sydney even got to go on Toy Story Mania for the first time. Thanks to the Larsen's for hanging out with us today!

The photo below totally cracks me up. What's the deal with the boys? None of them are paying attention or looking at the camera while all the girls are perfectly posed. (Although, Sydney needs to learn how to take that pacifier out when posing)"

Odd Eating Habits-Take 2
Well, Jane is at it again. Today while I was in Phoenix I discovered that she has now drug my boss into her odd eating habits. When I first saw Laura and Jerry eating their giant carrots I expected to hear one of them say "ehh, what's up doc". Seriously....the only thing that was missing from this scene was Bugs Bunny.
A couple of hours later Laura announced that she thought she ate a pound of carrots today. (Hopefully, she won't turn orange-see caution section at bottom) Then as I am about to board the plane she informed me that in addition to guacamole, she would like carrot juice at her last meal. (Are you kidding?) She may decide to add some cottage cheese to the list as well. (Really?) This is being recorded here so that in the event I forget and need to execute a last meal, I can reference this documentation.

Extreme Facebooking
So a guy in Florida got arrested Saturday because he tried to steal a Starbucks customers laptop. He asked the customer if he could use the laptop to check his Facebook account and when the patron said no he grabbed the laptop and booked it for the door.
He was tackled by two people in the parking lot and was charged with robbery by sudden snatching. (Robbery by sudden snatching, why does that make me laugh out loud?)
I find myself wondering what he was so critical that he needed to check? Was it because he needed to update his status? Would it have said "Joe is using a Starbucks customers laptop to check Facebook" or perhaps "Joe is drinking a latte"? or maybe he heard about the Kim Thomas fan club and had the urge to join right then? Regardless, this is an example of extreme Facebooking. If you have the urge to steal someone's computer to log in to Facebook it is probably time to join the Facebook group "I am addicted to Facebook and I need help"

$1.00 Food Stamps, Economic Stimulus?
The Associated Press reported the story below:
OLYMPIA, Wash. The state of Washington sent out $1 checks to the 250,000 food stamp recipients in the state.
The director of the Community Services Division for the Department of Social and Health Services, Leo Ribas, says the checks mailed Feb. 17 trigger an additional $43 million in federal food benefits. They also connect recipients to an energy assistance program.
I find myself wondering how the Food Stamp recieients will spend their dollar.

Scrapbooking and Mini Vans
I will do a blog about that another night but suffice to say I enjoyed it. When my Facebook status said I was going scrap booking I was teased by Jenn, Sara and Courtney. With Sara's Facebook status changed to "Sara is constantly in awe of KT's transformation" and Courtney's comment "I never would have guessed the lady who doesn't carry a purse would go scrapbooking? hmmm?"
A few hours later I had the following conversation with Rachel:
Kim: There is such a problem with trunk space and strollers
Rachel: When I get a new car it will probably be a Honda Pilot
Kim: Well, you better watch out that has horrible trunk space and won't fit a stroller. I hate that about my car.
Rachel: Yeah, Tahoe's don't have room either.
Kim: I hate to say this, I can't believe I am saying it but I may have to get a mini-van.
Rachel: Oh no, you can't! Get a Suburban.
Kim: I hate big cars though but I am not the mini-van type
Rachel: I will NEVER get a mini-van
Kim: I will remind you of this. At 7:16 PM on 2/21/09 Rachel said she will NEVER get a mini-van
Rachel: (Laughs) Well, unless I am traveling and I have to rent one. That is the only way.
Kim: (Laughs)
Rachel: I just want to say for the record that I don't think there is anything wrong with driving a mini-van.
Kim: I will note that when I blog this
Rachel: Mom, will think I am a snob when she sees that
Kim: I will note that too

Moves of Uncommon Greatness
If you have paid attention at Starbucks during recent months you will notice that more and more pins are being displayed by Starbucks baristas. Today, I asked about the pins that all say "MUG" on them.
MUG stands for Moves of Uncommon Greatness. I love that!!!!!! (and need to come up with something similar, with Champion in it of course) The MUG pins are distributed directly from one barista to another when they spot their co-worker doing a move of uncommon greatness. I love recognition and I love peers recognizing each other. Believe me, we will implement something similar, when we do, I hope it catches on, I hope people aren't cynical about it, and I hope people feel recognized.

Taxes and Crossing the Street In California
So the democrats in California want to double my car registration, raise the taxes on each gallon of gas by 12 cents and raise the state sales tax by 1 cent. I suggest rather than doing any of these things they start making better decisions when spending my money. For example:
These new fancy shmansy talking instructions were installed a couple of months ago on the corner of Lake Avenue and Cordova. My first question is what to do if you get the steady "Don't Cross" when you are half way through the intersection since if you get the flashing "Don't Cross" you should finish crossing.

My first question is what to do if you get the steady "Don't Cross" when you are half way through the intersection since if you get the flashing "Don't Cross" you should finish crossing.

My second question is how valuable are these expensive crossing instructions if 7 of the 8 coinciding signs look like this:

Hometown Favorites
The Sacramento airport has a sports store called "Hometown Favorites". Can somebody tell me why the Sacramento Kings are pushed off to the side while UCLA, USC and the Lakers are featured prominently in the store windows?
In addition to the Kings there are small displays for Berkeley, A's and Raiders but the Los Angeles teams are everywhere.
