Three things on this yesterday:
(1) Someone pretending to be Tony actually left me a voicemail just to spite me. I say they were pretending to be Tony because he always leaves me voicemail out of of spite.
(2) While sharing an office yesterday (for about two hours) I overheard someone call another person three times and leave three different messages. All said basically the same thing "I'm trying to get ahold of you, it's important" was the gist. Wouldn't the person call back after retrieving the first? This is precisely why I did away with voicemail.
(3) I was lecturing a couple people on phone habits yesterday and mid sentence I paused and said "I'm feeling a little bit like a hypocrite because of my voicemail message"
You have reached the voicemail of Kim Thomas, please do not leave a message :)

Voicemail is evil!
Perfect :)
I hate it when people call... unless it's a friend, of course!
I think that your number in the missed calls list is usually significant. However, if you have a "personal best" and no one is answering the phone, it is ok to leave a message that time.
Love your message! Hate voicemail!
Am I crazy to think voicemail is the best because you don't anwer the call and people have to leave you a message and you can call back OONLY when you feel it necessary!?? I tend to l-o-v-e voicemail!!
Kim, I have overheard conversations where people talk about your voicemail message and say it is completely unprofessional. And I have to agree. If you don't want voicemail, have it removed from your phones. Removing from the office phone is very easy, as is removeing it from the cell.
The ineffeciency of Voicemail.
The Guardian's Charles Arthur says that voicemail is "spectacularly inefficient" and that he hates to see the "new message waiting" blinking light on his phone:
It takes much longer to deal with the voicemail than the original message. People ramble. They say their phone number veryquicklyindeedinonebreath. They mumble. They use phones that seem to be located underwater. It's all wasted time.
Being a cranky bastard myself when it comes to the phone, I whole-heartedly agree. I've put off making my voicemail greeting, "If you can, please send me an email" for fear all my friends would make fun of me.

To me I think it is just unfair that Kim gets to avoid her VMails. I wonder what would happen if I stated on my VMail "Please do not leave me a message"? I think I am going to try it!
I did not leave you a message yesterday. I just text you with my blackberry now. Unfortunately you do not respond to those either. Maybe you can set up a out of office reply on your blackberry that states "do not leave a text message on my Blackberry"
Tony
Or maybe I should just get the hint.....
Tony
Are you really supposed to check your voicemail??
Nice
