Dinner At El Torito

Even though I was tired, tonight when David suggested we go to El Torito for dinner, I jumped at the idea. I wasn't excited because I would soon be eating my favorite chicken flautas, I was excited because I would be getting a second condiment container to take home.

I'll explain, whenever we go to El Torito I order the chicken flautas. They are really good! I usually eat three of them and then take home 3. The flautas are delicious but the red pepper dip (recipe found here) completes them. When taking my 3 home, I find that in the to-go container the flautas roll around in the red pepper dip which causes two problems for me. (1) Makes the flautas soggy (2) wastes the dip. So, last time we went, I decided to just take the little container with the red pepper dip in it. (David wasn't happy) I found that keeping the pepper dip in the little container solved both of my problems and the little container can then be used for holding other types of condiments as well.

So after dinner tonight, I now have two of these containers and some great chicken flautas and red pepper dip to have for lunch tomorrow. Yummy!

Perhaps I need to start a series of "Ways I'm like the Champ"...this is pretty much exclusively the only thing I get at El T.

I get the chicken quesadilla at El T. But because of your high recommendation, I am getting the flautas next time I go. And I have to tell you, I totally agree with your method of taking the dip container because it solves the soggy issue and allows for condiment use at a later time. I would have done the same thing! And my husband wouldn't have been happy either! And now I wanna say RO! Hehe!!!

Is everyone going to just pass up the obvious here? It doesn't matter if it is a $.50 item or not. If everyone did that then everyone would think it was ok to come into work on a Saturday, tell security that it is an empty box only to find a computer in it!! Stealing is stealing no matter what! But of course all your snobby commenters would never say it!

Looks delish! I steal shot glasses and beer mugs and margarita glasses whenever possible, Champ - so I don't think a little condiment dish is going to hurt! :O)

argh. I had a very productive night the other night of commenting, only to find out that blogger wasn't taking my credentials.

My original comment was something along the lines of how they actually have "to-go" sauce containers, so you're not having to steal ;) However, they never offer them up, you always have to ask.

That said, I have several of these "bullets" as we call them from On The Border :) What is it about Mexi food that makes us want to take the sauce containers??
