Taxes and Crossing the Street In California

These new fancy shmansy talking instructions were installed a couple of months ago on the corner of Lake Avenue and Cordova. My first question is what to do if you get the steady "Don't Cross" when you are half way through the intersection since if you get the flashing "Don't Cross" you should finish crossing.

My second question is how valuable are these expensive crossing instructions if 7 of the 8 coinciding signs look like this:

They should raise more taxes to afford new lighted signs, too.

pasadena has all this extra money now to install the high tech crosswalk thingys since they installed the fancy-schmacy parking meters on lake. you're either paying for parking (via the very complicated parking machines) or paying the parking ticket! (grrr!)

:)
