I'm Heartburn Free, With Pepcid AC
My heartburn has been so bad the last few weeks. Luckily for me, Ruth Anne has redirected me from my Tums to Pepcid. Ruth Anne's advice: take one Pepcid in the morning and one Pepcid at night. Well, after two days my heartburn is gone! Thanks, Ruth, you rock!

Please do not take any medications without first checking with your doctor. Pepcid AC is not to be taken by pregnant or lactating women without first talking to their doctor as it crosses the placental barrier. I'm glad however your heartburn is gone, it can be so uncomfortable.
Heartburn is the worst! I had a lot of it when I was Pg. If you follow conventional thinking, this means that Sydney has a head full of hair! Vicki sure did!
I don't know if it is a coincidence but I had the WORST heartburn when I was pregnant with Caroline. It was bad with Dylan but horrific with Caroline. I wonder if it is a baby girl thing. Who knows! They are old wives tales.

Anonymous may have been a little embarrassed by their comment, so he/she decided not to leave their name. However, a good point was mentioned. You shouldn't take medication when your are pregnant without using experience and knowledge. I have worked exclusively with pregnant women for over 5 years, and Pepcid is one of the most frequently prescribed medications. Although I was not dispensing meds, I am only 18 months away from being licensed to do so.
Almost all drugs cross the placenta, even creams. Tylenol is one of the most accepted analgesics to give to pregnant women, and it is ranked at a category B, the same as Pepcid. Pepcid is only a H2 blocker, which wouldn't affect a fetus by having its Histamine temporarily reduced.

Each prenancy is different and I must reiterate DO NOT TAKE ANY MEDICATIONS while pregnant WITHOUT CHECKING WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST. I appaulde your efforts to improve your education Ruth Ann but please remember unless you are becoming a physician your scope will be limited.
