McDonalds has launched a new sandwich, The "Southern Style Chicken Sandwich". For some reason, I arrived at McDonalds the other day. Actually, it wasn't for some reason, I really wanted one of their ice cream cones (Did you know that not only are they reduced fat they are only 150 calories). When I arrived I suddenly was dying for a coke and then I saw that they had a new Chicken Sandwich and I decided to just go for it. I didn't get the ice cream cone, instead I ordered one Southern Style Chicken Sandwich and a kids coke. I had no idea what came on the Southern Style Chicken Sandwich and my only question when ordering was "Does this have mayonnaise on it?" When the person taking my order said no, I ordered it.Imagine my surprise when I opened the sandwich and saw this:
The only thing on this sandwich was a huge breaded chicken breast and two pickles. Is this really the way they make chicken sandwiches in the south? Two pickles, bun and an enormous piece of chicken? Is anybody reading from the south that can you answer this question? Seriously, could this sandwich look any more plain and boring?
BTW: Surprisingly it wasn't bad but I did share some with Katie. She gave it two paws up.

That's a total rip off of a Chick-Fil-A sandwich--- pickles and all. I will be boycotting McDonald's version of my favorite sandwich. (It comes dry and you add mayo, ketchup, and a little mustard for a perfect sandwich)
I have lived in the south for 2/3 of my life and I can honestly say, "I've never seen a chicken sandwich like that" I'll deliberate and get back to you on the definitive southern chicken sandwich.
As a born and raised southerner, I totally object to this sandwich concept. It should have BBQ sauce, honey mustard or at least some jack cheese. Not good. Btw, I did know those facts on their ice cream and love it :)
Chick-fil-a makes their chicken sandwiches this way...but I can't imagine that McD's are nearly as good as theirs! Although "southern-style" generally means deep fried. We deep fry anything that doesn't move in the south...including any and all vegetables including pickles!
I agree. I am not from the south but I know that southern chicken sandwiches are not like this. And, if you want a great chicken sandwich that is WAY better than this, go to Chick-Fil-A. DEElicious!
OK, the closest Chick-Fil-A is 20 miles from my house. I think Sydney and I have a mission this week.......
YUCK! I believe that any fried piece of chicken is considered southern.
Alice totally stole my comments
My advice: Don't eat at McEvil (I mean, McDonald's) ....they pretty much, well..., suck. Go to a local deli or sandwich shop or restaurant (order to go), pay a little more, and get what you really wanted. Everyone should have what they're craving from time to time!! Plus, I'd rather support a local establishment than that ridiculously large conglomerate :)
Yes Alice, Total rip of of Chick-Fil-A! There is no way that the McDonald's sandwhich is close to Chick-Fil-A's!
kim, come down and have lunch with me at work. We can go for your first Chick-fil-a
