Another Ms Pac-Man Champ?

For those of you that read the blog last week, "Blogging 101", you know that I got my nickname, "The Champ" because I rocked at Ms Pac-Man. Tonight, I had a very disturbing conversation with a fellow Ms Pac-Man Champion (I use the word right now, loosely) who seems to think that she is a better Ms Pac-Man player than I am. As I sit here pondering my successes at Ms. Pac-man I have to wonder, am I truly "The Champion"?

I don't know my high score. This other player, let's just call her Jane McKay, knew her high score. It was 675,000. If I was truly as good as I thought I was, wouldn't I know this information?

Sure, I know that the pretzel was worth more than the strawberry and the strawberry more than the cherry but isn't that just trivial information that probably everybody knows?

I know that if I ate Blinky, Pinky, Inky and Sue I got a full 1600 points. Yeah, okay, I didn't always get all of them. Sometimes, I'd only get 2 or 3.....Sue was elusive. I'll bet "Jane" got all of them......everytime.

For every 10,000 points you earn an extra "Ms Pac-Man". That means that "Jane" earned an extra 67 lives during the course of her high game. I am sure I never did that good, I'm afraid I didn't even come close.

And yes you earn 10 points for a Pac Away dot and 50 points for an energizer. You pass the first couple of boards you get an intermission, the first one "They Meet", the next one "The Chase" and the final one "Junior". I've got down all the basics of this game, thats not in question here. To be a true Champion though, you need more than the basics, you need results.

So really, what makes me so special?? Did Maya just shout out "You are the Champion" for the heck of it? My self esteem has officially tanked.........forget the pretentious, self absorbed, bombastic, disposition that I once had, I have now been forever humbled.

Take note even a Chimpanzee can play Ms. Pac-Man:

kim...you have simply grown beyond ms pac man to bigger and better conquests! there is no need for you to boast of past victories. poor jane, on the other hand. is this all she has? consider yourself lucky that your name and life is more than just a number tied to ms pac man. i think you summed it up in your last sentence…even a chimp can play ms pac man.

Interesting information here from anonymous.

Chris Ayra, Tom Asaki and Bill Mitchell each appear on this list 3 times. These people have no life, Jack needs to eliminate them.

Looks like they have official referees for Ms. Pac-Man competitions. I am even more impressed with Jane after seeing this, her score would stand up on the verified Ms. Pac-Man champion list. You know, yesterday, I may have sounded a bit bitter towards Jane, but the truth is, I am in absolute awe!

Although, Dawn suggests that I have grown beyond Ms. Pac-Man, I'm afraid that just isn't true and the next steps I take are going to be quite obvious to the readers:

Effective immediately I will have to put Squidward in charge while I go into a rigorous 14 month Ms. Pac-Man training program.

Squidward, thank you for stepping up and taking on this huge responsibility. The good news is, you are being recognized for your efforts! The bad news is I cannot give you a raise. Additionally, since I won't be working I will need to have you pay for the Ms Pac-Man training program and my daily dose of Starbucks. Thanks, sport!

eoww! Unbeliveable-I passed my boards but I sure don't remember my score! Oh yeah, I remember- I had the highest score ever acheived, a perfect 400. Darn it though they forgot to publish it someplace and I lost the paper they sent me-hmm guess my word will have to suffice. I've seen you play ms pac man-have you seen Jane play?

OK, I was there on that infamous day and all worries can be put to rest! I was and am the one in awe of you... when I call a champion, I make no mistakes. Your score was (drumroll) 675,010!!!

Jane made you question your worth as a Ms. PacMan genius and that does not reflect a true champion. You applauded her effort, tho yours was better... and that my friend is why YOU ARE THE CHAMPION!

Well, it's been 14 months. How'd your rigorous Ms. Pacman training program go Kim? :) Did you discover that you *DON'T* "For every 10,000 points earn an extra Ms Pac-Man"? Makes it even harder than you presumed to survive 141 levels!?

If you're still Pac'in, check my vids: http://ca.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=VelvetRolo&p=r

yeah, you have to start with 3 lives and only get the one free life at 10k if youre going for the record. i used to score 350k+ all the time as a teenager, lost interest for a decade or so until king of kong, watching it with my wife and the part where they ask billy mitchell's wife did she ever see him play and she said "no", my wife turns to me and says "i never saw you score over 100k either". probably wishes she never woulda said that now!!! hahaha practicing nightly for almost a month now, i'm back up to almost 200k.
