Bath and Body Works OR Equate?

First off, let it be known that I hardly ever shop Walmart. I would say "never" but some smart aleck will comment that it clearly isn't true since this post is about a trip to Walmart. About a month ago my mom and I went to Walmart because I had a ton of toiletry type items to buy for Sydney and we figured it would be alot cheaper. While there, I realized I was about out of hand soap so I picked up some "Equate" hand soap that was on one of the aisle ends.

I am strictly a Bath and Body Works soap user so this brief departure was unusual. A couple of days later I realized that "Equate" was the Walmart brand name and at that point I needed to take an emergency trip to the mall and Body Bath and Body Works.

Joshua came with me and I decided to at least break my normal routine (Always Cucumber Melon or Coconut Lime Verbena) and I let Joshua choose my six anti bacterial soaps. I ended up with:

*Coconut Lime Verbena (Yes!, Way to go Joshua!)

*Exotic Coconut (Another Winner)
*Fresh Pineapple (Haven't used yet and a little too fruity if you ask me)
*Kitchen Lemon
*Cucumber Melon (Yeah!)
*Brown Sugar and Fig (Haven't smelled yet, this was almost Warm Vanilla Sugar but I did coerce him into changing to something else)

A final comment: The Equate soap wasn't bad but everytime I walked into the bathrooms I was reminded that I had just shopped at Walmart.

A final conclusion: Joshua is great at picking out anti-bacterial soaps.

A final question: Does boycotting Equate make me a snob?

Hey, I am a few days late, but congrats on baby Sidney, she is just beautiful! Thank heavens for the mighty epidural.....those were not used when I gave birth...I went through the whole thing solo....three times...I would have been happy for a hammer upside the head....hee.

Anyway, congratulations to you and your family.....yep, your life will be completely changed forever, but in a wonderful, fantastic way.

BYW...I am a Bath and Body works kind of gal too, but I also shop at Walmart....just call a versatile multi-shopper.

Hugs

I am a BBW soap user too. I usually put it into the cute soap container that came with my bathroom set. I do buy other soap (but not from Walmart) for the kitchen. I rarely go to Walmart or Sam's Club (since it is next to Walmart.)

In conclusion I do not think you are a snob, because I don't think I am a snob :-) I don't like the people, the mess, and craziness of anything near Walmart!

Hey, I LOVE Walmart (and BBW)!!! I do vast majority of my grocery & HBA shopping at Walmart & Sam's.

But, what's wrong with the Equate Milk & Honey? I have the giant jug that I use to refill the cutesie soap dispensers.

B&BW Rocks and those are some of my favorites -- esp coconut lime and citrus melon. Hope they haven't discontinued those flavors in the body cream!

Also, I boycott not just Equate but Walmart. Their corporate philosphy is ruining the economy from the bottom up!

Yeah shame on WalMart for bringing jobs and lower prices to shoppers-The creeps! BTW, soap is soap!

You are not a snob, because I am not a snob. :)

I have a theory that our aversion to Wal-Marts is geographically based...is there anyone that reads this blog, that resides in So Cal, that LIKES Wal-Mart?

With the exception of LoSpace, my theory is that those in So Cal dislike Wal-Mart and those outside of So Cal like Wal-Mart.

And now let the exceptions prove me wrong...

Not a snob at all. I think the last time I went to Wal Mart was 15years ago? Jenn Ann, your theory sounds pretty valid indeed. I happen to fancy Tar-Jayyy.

LOL. I would agree that Equate soap would not measure up to BBW. However, you pay 1/7 the price, so it's all about what you're going for.

I agree with the observation about regional opinions of Walmart. Where I live, the Walmarts are just as nice inside as Tar-Jay, and the prices are lower. So what's a penny pinching gal to do? :) The Walmart I went into in CA was not so attractive. It would not have been a regular thing for me to go there.

Your last question made me laugh because while reading this, I kept thinking, "Kim is such a snob!" Who knew?

No! Believe me, when you are washing your hands 20 times a day because of the baby, you won't feel like a soap snob. Your hands will feel better and not as dry as with other soaps.(I haven't been to Walmart in years either. I even have one up the street and I still won't go.)

If I go to Walmart I have to deal with the carts when I pull in, they lady with 15 kids trying to get them in the car next to me, and leaves her cart next to my car, the dirty store, crying babies from the mom with 10 kids and grandma... Do I need to continue? Jenn you are so right Walmart in So-Cal sucks!!
