"Use The Flower"

A few weeks ago Jane was at our house and she was taking a close up picture of something (I don't remember what). She stated that it wasn't coming out and David said to her "Use the flower". Jane and I both responded "What?". David then proceeded to show us the flower which is on most digital cameras and should be used whenever you take a close up photo. Here's the flower:

Here's an example of two pictures. One with the flower setting one without:

I can't believe you didn't know about the flower...

And you live with a photographer...

Further proof that David knew what he was talking about when he said you needed the Sydney lens :)

I had no clue what the flower was used for! Another important lesson learned via kim1champ.

Thanks, David!

Wow! I never knew that. Just add that to the wonderful things I have learned on this blog!

On a different note, what are you feeding Sydney? She looks like she has grown a ton since she was born!

I have seen the flower, but was unsure of its use. Close-ups?

Unfortunately, I had to take a picture of a piece of paper today for proof, and without that advice it may not have worked.

Thanks,

most digitals, if you turn it to a setting, for a few seconds a little description shows up in the window to tell you what that setting is best for.

I took a picture of a petrified rock at the Grand Canyon just days after learning the technique (by the way the flower is called macro). I too will need to post.

Thanks DT!!!

I was taking pictures of my Autistic students art work at Open House. They weren't turning out right so I used the flower, and they look amazing!
