Huntington has a pretty cool thing going in their food services department. There is a menu in your room and you order it like you would order room service at a hotel. The first time you order, though you feel somewhat like a pig, that is until the food comes and you realize that these are the smallest portions of all times. My first breakfast order (the morning after Sydney was born) included the following: (1) Cheese Omelet (2) Fresh Fruit Cup (3) Bacon (4) Toast (5) Water (6) Milk and (7) Orange Juice. Seven Items! When the food came it barely looked like anything. Super small egg with cheese on top, 3 or 4 grapes, 2 pieces of cantaloupe, 1 piece of bacon, 1 piece of toast. The orange juice and water were in those little half cups and it really didn't look like much. Anyway, the food was okay just not very much. Luckily, my diet was not restricted so I could choose from anything on the menu.
When I was readmitted to the hospital (almost exactly a week later) I was initially NPO (Nothing By Mouth) and then was moved to the low sodium/no caffeine diet. The no sodium/no caffeine diet sucks. I was denied a chocolate chip cookie for desert and then I was denied for chocolate milk. Not to mention the low sodium food choices are not as numerous as regular food. Note my last hospital meal order. (hopefully for quite awhile)

2 syrups and 3 butters! LOL! Perfect with the 2 pancakes. Love it!! I have to tell you the low sodium/no caffeine diet is wrecking me right now.
I've added a little extra caffeine into my life for you (and Jinjer). Apparently the room service type food is the new thing in hospitals (Ruth Anne can validate that statement) as I had the same experience in October (thankfully it was an unrestricted diet then). WAY better than the week of Jello I had to suffer through when I was in the hospital with a ruptured/gangrenous appendix in 1991!
we'll have to get you to BJ's for that pizza you like (did you ever figure our which half you like?) or to The Boiling Pot (for Shabu Shabu)! YAY!!
:)
amen! may that be your LAST hospital meal... EVER!
:)
Ewww. When I had Vicki, the hospital I was in was notorious for their bad food. So, Big D used to bring me food while I was there.
Hope you're feeling better!
Well at least you know the liver is fresh.
I am so excited to eat after I give birth that it makes the hospital food seem really good.
24-hour room service (order through the TV) is offered by the 2 different hospital systems I work at. When patients' bellies are happy, they are happy!
So funny! Methodist used to have a menu type plan and I loved it when I had my kids. Then, without consulting me, they changed their program when I went in for surgery last fall. I was very sad. The food was no where near as good. Plus, I had to be on liquid diet for 2 days. That one was really bad. I have jello, with jello and jello. I haven't eaten jello since. You had it better than me!
