Is A Diaper Bag a Form of Purse?

Most people that know me, know that I don't carry a purse. In fact, I hate purses. I feel best when I just have my blackberry, lipstick and a single credit card on me. So, it's a bit challenging these days with an infant carrier, infant and a DIAPER BAG. The diaper bag makes me crazy! The last couple of days I worked on finding a smaller bag to replace the monster diaper bag on a daily basis. There will be times when I need a large diaper bag but that will be the exception.

I found the perfect bag at Eddie Bauer. It is the Expedition Small Guide Bag (The description says it's for "On the go, and always ready for adventure"-Yeah!)

The traditional diaper bag is on the left and it measures in at 16L x 12w x 7.5D. My new expedition bag on the right is 9H x 7.5W x 2 3/4 D. The size is perfect and the expedition bag now holds all the necessities for a diaper bag:

3 Diapers, 1 Travel Wipes, 1 Receiving Blanket, 1 Anti-Bacterial Lotion, 1 Desitin and a onsie.

Running errands with the Expedition bag will be much easier. The traditional diaper bag will be stocked and kept in the car. I can then use it to refill the Expedition bag as needed. Three cheers for the perfect bag!

I am now down to a pair of size 4T panties and travel wipes in case of an accident. So far so good. I am very close to needing nothing. YEAH! I always started with the big bag and then kept down-sizing to the point where I am now. Your new bad will serve you well!

Change of clothes! Change of clothes - cram in a change of clothes! Even if it's just a spare onesie -- maybe one you kinda like, not love. One nasty blowout diaper in the store will make it worth the space. Oops, almost forgot, don't forget an empty ziplok bag for aforementioned gross blownout clothes you experienced in the store.

PS Yes I'm back from the blogger dead. I've passed several weeks doing everything and feeling that I've accomplished nothing. Oh well. Cheers!

So happy you found a happy compromise! In addition to LoSpace's widsom, I also learned from Bianka that a spare shirt for mom (left in the car) might not be a bad idea!

Way to go on finding the perfect on the go diaper bag!

You can always put the extra stuff in the huge diaper bag in the car!

1) I am glad that it's not the carting around of the infant that makes you crazy ;)

2) yep, the new diaper bag is so small you might just be able to tuck it into your bra

I think you did a phenomenal job on trying your hardest to find a "bag" that is not a purse. You did very well. However, I feel that this is a form of a purse in it's own right...just accept it KT. Once you accept it, we can go shopping for some great purses!

I do not miss lugging around a big 'ol diaper bag!

But I would definitely classify your 'perfect' diaper bag as a purse! :)

Beejay#2It is uplifting to see that you are pairing down to the economical adventure pack...I look forward to a follow up with the economical stroller holding the economical adventure pack with the detachable car seat, mandatory change of clothes for those explosive moments during sleep where you thought you might get to stop and have lunch, and the madatory second bottle of whatever (not for you) for those longer than expected lines waiting to pay for the extra diapers etc.....and then a toy or four to keep her occupied and oh yeah, the new suburban to fil all that into it. But then, good for you.....an good luck with that.

Lois-Rest assured there is a onsie in the bag. I don't know how I left it off my post!
